A multicentre analysis of efficacy, safety and molecular response correlates of fostamatinib in warm autoimmune haemolytic anaemia and Evans syndrome

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, Volume 208, Issue 5, Page 1878-1884, May 2026.
Fostamatinib had 46% durable response, with 73% steroid reduction, in this multicentre retrospective study of refractory wAIHA/ES. Hypertension, gastrointestinal (GI) distress and neutropenia occurred in 23%. Only one patient required drug discontinuation and one patient dose reduction.

In‐depth analysis of osmotic gradient ektacytometry parameters across different genotypes in hereditary spherocytosis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, Volume 208, Issue 5, Page 1785-1796, May 2026.
Summary Hereditary spherocytosis (HS) is a hereditary haemolytic anaemia, caused by pathogenic variants in genes encoding red blood cell membrane proteins. Osmotic gradient ektacytometry evaluates red cell deformability and hydration and is increasingly used in the diagnosis of HS.

Total Splenectomy due to an Unexpected “Complication” after Successful Extended Laparoscopic Partial Decapsulation of a Giant Epidermoid Splenic Cyst: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2011
Splenic cysts are rare entities and are classified as true cysts or pseudocysts based on the presence of an epithelial lining. Congenital nonparasitic true cysts can be epidermoid, dermoid, or endodermoid, present at a young age, and are commonly located

B Cell Subsets and Atherosclerosis: Updates and Emerging Concepts

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 339, Issue 1, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) is increasingly recognized not just as a lipid‐driven disease, but as a complex interplay between vascular cells and the immune system. Accumulating evidence highlights a central, yet heterogeneous role for B cells in atherogenesis, with distinct subsets displaying opposing roles.

Increased intervals in enzyme replacement therapy for stable type 1 Gaucher disease: A non‐inferiority sequential trial emulation

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 299, Issue 5, Page 604-614, May 2026.
Abstract Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of extended interval (Q3–4W) enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) versus standard biweekly (Q2W) ERT in clinically stable type 1 Gaucher disease (GD) patients. Methods We emulated a target trial with a sequential trial design, using data from the French Gaucher Disease Registry.
