Numerical Simulation of Partially Premixed Combustion using the Flamelet Approach
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1999AbstractPartially premixed combustion in the flamelet regime as simulated using the two‐scalar level set approach. It combines the flamelet models developed for non‐premixed and premixed Combustion. In the flamelet regime the calculation of the chemical processes can be separated from the pow calculation, so that the flow solver need not resolve any ...

Large Eddy Simulation of Partially Premixed Combustion in an Internal Combustion Engine
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2012<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper reports on numerical investigations of the mixing, ignition and combustion processes in a laboratory engine operating under partially premixed combustion (PPC) conditions. The engine is a modified version of a 13-liter Scania D13 engine.

Model Predictive Control of Partially Premixed Combustion
2010Partially premixed combustion is a compression ignited combustion strategy where high exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) levels in combination with early or late injection timing result in a prolonged ignition delay yielding a more premixed charge than with conventional diesel combustion. With this concept it is possible to get low smoke and NOx emissions

Turbulent non-premixed combustion in partially premixed diffusion flamelets with detailed chemistry
Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1988The formulation of an extended laminar flamelet model of non-premixed turbulent combustion is developed. The microscopic elements in the turbulent ensemble are taken as laminar diffusion flamelets that are distinguished by the extent of stretching to which they are exposed and, additionally, by the degree to which their reactants are premixed ...

Triple flames and partially premixed combustion in autoignition of non-premixed turbulent mixtures
Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1996The present work deals with autoignition of non-premixed turbulent mixtures. The objective is to study the possible role that partially premixed combustion may play in the propagation of ignition. First, a physical picture based on simple considerations and describing the structure of the flame very early after ignition is discussed.

Partially premixed flamelets in LES of nonpremixed turbulent combustion
Combustion Theory and Modelling, 2002Partially premixed flames are observed in nonpremixed turbulent combustion when fuel and oxidizer have mixed before burning. This combustion regime combines the properties of both premixed and diffusion flames. A procedure based on the resolved fields is proposed to associate premixed and diffusion flame descriptions in large eddy simulation.

A Presumed Pdf Analysis of Partially Premixed Turbulent Combustion
Combustion Science and Technology, 2000The thermochemistry and chemical kinetics for a partially premixed system in turbulent reacting flows are discussed in terms of activation energy asymptotics and a simple presumed pdf based on two delta functions. The resulting analysis permits fuel and products to coexist, i.e., finite rate kinetic effects are incorporated.

Numerical Simulations of Partially Premixed Turbulent Combustion
2002Turbulent flame propagation through non-homogeneous reactant mixtures is investigated using high-resolution two-dimensional numerical simulation, including detailed chemical kinetics and molecular transport. Systematic variations in the distribution of reactant composition are imposed, and the effect of these variations on the primary propagating flame,
