Flame stretch effects on partially premixed flames
Combustion and Flame, 2000Abstract Flame stretch is an important characteristic of flame behavior that arises due to flow motion and nonuniformity, and flame curvature. Various investigators have obtained different expressions for flame stretch by employing dissimilar analytical approaches for diverse flame configurations.

Modelling and Calculation of a Partially Premixed Turbulent Flame
Combustion Science and Technology, 1999A partially premixed turbulent flame has been modelled using the laminar flamelet concept, i.e. the assumption that laminar flames are embedded in the turbulent flow field. A combination of a premixed flamelet model and a diffusion flamelet model has been used for modelling this partially premixed flame.

On scalar dissipation and partially premixed flame propagation
Combustion Science and Technology, 2003Measurements of the scalar dissipation rate in the region immediately upstream of a lifted jet flame are presented. The scalar dissipation is determined in this isothermal region from a planar measurement of a two-dimensional conserved scalar (jet fluid) using laser Rayleigh scattering. Fields of the scalar dissipation rate are presented in addition to

Partially premixed turbulent flame propagation in jet flames
Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1994Flamelet formulations for premixed and non-premixed combustion are combined in order to treat partiallypremixed combustion in the fast chemistry limit. The flamelet concept for non-premixed combustion is based on the equation for the mixture fraction Z (x, t ), while that for premixed combustion uses a field equation for the scalar field G (x, t ...

NO formation in counterflow partially premixed flames
Combustion and Flame, 2007An experimental and computational study of NO formation in low-strain-rate partially premixed methane counterflow flames is reported. For progressive fuel-side partial premixing the peak NO concentration increased and the NO distribution along the stagnation streamline broadened.

Partial premixing in diffusion flame quenching
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 2001AbstractUsing Direct Numerical Simulation, we focus on the development of partial premixing in laminar diffusion flame quenching. Calculations are performed in the configuration of a 2‐D diffusion flame squeezed by a pair of vortices. First, the flame undergoes strong finite rate chemistry effects, linked to high levels of strain rate induced by ...

Influence of Fuel Premixing on Partially Premixed Flames in Porous-Wall Channels
International Journal of Nonlinear Sciences and Numerical Simulation, 2017Abstract This paper examines the influence of mixing a fuel with an oxidizer-rich reactant on the existence and propagation of partially premixed flames formed in a porous-wall channel. The amount of the injected fuel has been taken as a parameter to generate different states of the combustion mixtures.

Partially premixed flames in stagnating turbulence: The merging of planar triple flames
Combustion and Flame, 2008Abstract The aim of this work, which takes a RANS perspective, is to consider the prospect of establishing a planar turbulent triple flame whose mean consists of two parallel premixed flame brushes separated by a nonpremixed flame brush. Experiments involving a counterflow between fuel-rich and fuel-lean turbulent streams are considered.

Fuel effects on NOx emissions in partially premixed flames
Combustion and Flame, 2004Abstract The requirement to significantly reduce NOx and particulate emissions while maintaining combustor performance is one of the main drivers for internal combustion engine research. Partially premixing and using fuel blends represent two promising approaches for reducing both the NOx and the particulate emissions from flames.

Combustion Modeling of Partially Premixed Flames
Volume 2: Combustion, Fuels and Emissions, Parts A and B, 2010Accurate and properly validated turbulence-chemistry interaction models for RANS combustion computational fluid dynamics (CCFD) simulations are required in support of the development process of modern gas turbine combustors. Although standard models are available for fully premixed and purely non premixed turbulent combustion, models describing ...
