Evaluation of partially premixed turbulent flame stability from mixture fraction statistics in a slot burner

open access: yes, 2018
Partially premixed combustion is characterized by mixture fraction inhomogeneity upstream of the reaction zone and occurs in many applied combustion systems.

Multiobjective Optimization of Hydrogen‐Assisted Calophyllum inophyllum Biodiesel Operation in a Compression Ignition Engine

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 6, Page 2897-2929, June 2026.
Tri‐fuel diesel–Calophyllum inophyllum biodiesel–hydrogen operation was tested over 96 points in a diesel engine. Eight performance and emission metrics feed a preference‐agnostic Bootstrapped Empirical Multiobjective Ranking and Selection methodology, revealing load‐blend‐hydrogen windows that increase efficiency, restrain smoke, and expose NOx trade ...

Development and validation of a combustion model for a fuel cell off-gas burner

open access: yes, 2008
A low-emissions power generator comprising a solid oxide fuel cell coupled to a gas turbine has been developed by Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell Systems. As part of the cycle, a fraction of the unreacted fuel (the off-gas) and oxidizer streams is reacted in a ...

Identification of Flame Regimes in Partially Premixed Combustion from a Quasi-DNS Dataset

open access: yes, 2020
Identifying combustion regimes in terms of premixed and non-premixed characteristics is an important task for understanding combustion phenomena and the structure of flames.

A modeling study on the combustion characteristics of alcohol/diesel dual fuel counterflow flame

open access: yesApplications in Energy and Combustion Science
This study combines a 0D Well Stirred Reactor (WSR), 1D counterflow flame, experimental data, and a 1D gas dynamic model to create an integrated modeling tool to study the dual fuel combustion behavior in engine-relevant conditions, fueled with E85 and ...

An Experimental Study on Flame Puffing of a Swirl Partially Premixed Combustion under Varying Mass Flow Rate of Primary Air

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
It is of practical significance to understand the flame puffing behavior under varying mass flow rate of primary air ṁpri. An experiment was conducted to study the impact of ṁpri on flame puffing in a swirl partially premixed combustor, the puffing ...

Hybrid Oxygen Enrichment and Preheating Strategy for Performance Recovery in Ultra‐Lean Micro–Trapped Vortex Combustors

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 6, Page 3028-3041, June 2026.
Ultra‐lean H2 micro‐combustor performance is boosted through regulated O2 enrichment and inlet preheating. A 16‐case Taguchi study (ϕ = 0.3) shows: controlled enrichment and heating increase radiative output and efficiency, but excessive O2/temperature causes flashback.

Sustainable Flame Retardant System with Thermomechanically Modified Stinging Nettle Tailored for Polyamide 12

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 6, June 2026.
A sustainable flame retardant system for polyamide 12 is developed by combining melamine polyphosphate with thermomechanically modified stinging nettle. The plant‐derived component alters degradation pathways, enhances char formation, and reduces heat release.

Flame‐Assisted Modification of Glass Wettability: Preliminary Results

open access: yesMacromolecular Symposia, Volume 415, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Fog formation and moisture condensation limit the performance of glass surfaces in optical, microfluidic, and sensing applications, where stable transparency under humid conditions is essential. Enhancing surface wettability represents an effective strategy to mitigate these effects; therefore, the development of methods to tailor glass ...
