Numerical simulation of high pressure burner with partially premixed flame

open access: yesCT&F - Ciencia, Tecnología y Futuro, 2011
In this paper we present the results of a 2D‑axisymmetric parametric study which simulates an atmospheric premixed burner with flame at high pressure, in which methane is burned. A total of 9 simulations are performed with different regulators openings of primary and secondary air.

Two recent developments in numerical simulation of premixed and partially premixed turbulent flames

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mécanique, 2006
A subgrid scale closure for Large Eddy Simulation of premixed turbulent combustion (FSD-PDF) is proposed. It combines the Flame Surface Density (FSD) approach with a presumed Probability Density Function (PDF) of the progress variable that is used in flamelet chemistry tabulation.

Combustion mechanism of propane-air swirling premixed flame near lean flammability limit

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology
This study investigated a premixed propane-air flame in a partially tapered swirl burner. Experimentally, we found that a flame resembling a morning glory flower formed at an equivalence ratio near the lean flammability limit.

Effects of Equivalence Ratio and Inlet Temperature on Combustion and NOx Emissions of Partially Cracked Ammonia in a Cavity Micro-Combustor

open access: yesEnergies
This work numerically examines the premixed combustion of partially cracked ammonia/air in a cavity-stabilized micro-combustor. Effects of the equivalence ratio (Φ) and inlet temperature (Tin) on the combustion features, flame–wall heat transfer and ...

Numerical Simulation of Swirl and Methane Equivalence Ratio Effects on Premixed Turbulent Flames and NOx Apparitions

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2016
This paper presents a three dimensional numerical simulation of premixed methane-air low swirl stabilized flames. The computational domain has a simple geometry describing a LBS (low swirl burner) with 50mm of nozzle diameter. RANS Standard κ – ε model
