Reconstructing a light pseudoscalar in the Type-X two Higgs doublet model

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2017
We investigate the detectability as well as reconstructibility of a light pseudoscalar particle A, of mass in the 50–60 GeV range, which is still allowed in a Type-X (lepton-specific) two-Higgs doublet scenario.

Fundamentals of Non-relativistic Collisionless Shock Physics: V. Acceleration of Charged Particles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
A comprehensive review is given of the various processes proposed for accelerating particles by shocks to high energies. These energies are limited by several bounds: the non-relativistic nature of the heliospheric collisionless shocks to which this review restricts, the finite size of these shocks, the finite width of the downstream region, and to the

Particle Acceleration Mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This chapter provides a short tutorial review on particle acceleration in dynamic electromagnetic fields under scenarios relevant to the problem of particle acceleration in the solar corona and solar wind during solar eruptions. It concentrates on fundamental aspects of the acceleration process and refrains from presenting detailed modeling of the ...

Novel Biologically Active Glass Fiber Functionalized Using Magnesium Phosphate Cement Promotes Bone and Vascular Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
In this study, a new type of bioactive glass fiber ‐based composite magnesium phosphate bone cement is prepared and verified that its mechanical strength and biological properties. In addition, the cement may have played a biologically active role in the Notch and HIF signaling pathways.

Superconductivity in particle accelerators

open access: yes, 2023
This text is a full transcription of a lecture was given in the Joint Universities Accelerator School (JUAS) in 2023. A much shorter version is to be published in the JUAS book in 2024, along with all other lectures from the JUAS school. The aim of this lecture is to provide to physicists non-expert in materials science a glimpse on how superconducting

Numerical Studies of Influencing Factors on the Homogeneity of the Powder Mixture during the Powder Spreading Process of Powder Bed Fusion–Laser Beam/Metal

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
AISI 304L stainless steel powder is mixed with silicon nitride (Si3N4) powder and processed by PBF‐LB/M, allowing partial retention of Si3N4. The numerical approach effectively predicts the Si3N4 powder homogeneity and N content distribution on the powder bed. Recent studies have focused on the alloying of nitrogen (N) in high‐alloy stainless steels by

Entanglement of Uniformly Accelerating Schrodinger, Dirac, and Scalar Particles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
We study how the entanglement of an entangled pair of particles is affected when one or both of the pair is uniformly accelerated, while the detector remains in an inertial frame. We find that the entanglement is unchanged if all degrees of freedom are considered.

Beam-Beam Effects

open access: yes, 2016
One of the most severe limitations in high-intensity particle colliders is the beam-beam interaction, i.e. the perturbation of the beams as they cross the opposing beams.

Hydrogel‐Based Capacitive Sensor Model for Ammonium Monitoring in Aquaculture

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Traditional techniques for monitoring aquaculture water quality, particularly ammonium levels, harm fish. This work presents a novel capacitive sensor with an ionic hydrogel transducer to monitor ammonium concentration in real time based on the ammonium‐induced hydrogel dissociation and osmotic pressure. Monitoring aquaculture water quality, especially

Monte Carlo studies of quantum cosmology by the generalized Lefschetz thimble method

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Quantum cosmology aims at elucidating the beginning of our Universe. Back in early 80’s, Vilenkin and Hartle-Hawking put forward the “tunneling from nothing” and “no boundary” proposals.
