Cosmic Ray Acceleration by Magnetic Traps [PDF]
Cosmic ray acceleration in turbulent interstellar medium is considered. Turbulence is treated as ensemble of moving magnetic traps. We derive equations for particle momentum distribution function that describes acceleration of particles in this case.

The field description model for the LHC quadrupole superconducting magnets [PDF]
The LHC control system requires an accurate forecast of the magnetic field and the multipole field errors to reduce the burden on the beam-based feed-back.

An electronic system is presented consisting of a silver thin‐film electrode on a polyimide substrate working both as a heating element and a resistive temperature sensor, generating millisecond heat pulses with very fast heating and cooling rates and a flat peak temperature with a tunable duration.

Issues and R&D Required for the Intensity Frontier Accelerators [PDF]
Operation, upgrade and development of accelerators for Intensity Frontier face formidable challenges in order to satisfy both the near-term and long-term Particle Physics program. Here we discuss key issues and R&D required for the Intensity Frontier accelerators.

Hydrostatic bearings excel in high‐precision applications, but their performance hinges on a continuous external supply. This study evaluates various material combinations for sliding surfaces to mitigate damage during supply failures or misalignment and to discover the most effective materials identified for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of

Spin and maximal acceleration [PDF]
We study the spin current tensor of a Dirac particle at accelerations close to the upper limit introduced by Caianiello. Continual interchange between particle spin and angular momentum is possible only when the acceleration is time-dependent. This represents a stringent limit on the effect that maximal acceleration may have on spin physics in ...

ACCELERATION OF PARTICLES BY QUASIBLACK HOLES [PDF]
If two particles collide near the black hole horizon, the energy in their center of mass (CM) frame can grow indefinitely (the so-called Bañados, Silk and West (BSW) effect). This requires fine-tuning the parameters (the energy–momentum, angular momentum or electric charge) of one particle. We show that the CM energy can be unbound also for collisions
