Flows of granular material in two-dimensional channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Secondary cone-type crushing machines are an important part of the aggregate production process. These devices process roughly crushed material into aggregate of greater consistency and homogeneity.

Fractal and Morphological Characteristics of Single Marble Particle Crushing in Uniaxial Compression Tests

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2015
Crushing of rock particles is a phenomenon commonly encountered in geotechnical engineering practice. It is however difficult to study the crushing of rock particles using classical theory because the physical structure of the particles is complex and ...

On the micro mechanics of one-dimensional normal compression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Discrete-element modelling has been used to investigate the micro mechanics of one-dimensional compression. One-dimensional compression is modelled in three dimensions using an oedometer and a large number of particles, and without the use of ...

GEOMATERIAL SINGLE PARTICLE CRUSHING CHARACTERISTICS

open access: yesDoboku Gakkai Ronbunshu, 2001

On the measurements of individual particle properties via compression and crushing

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2021
An experimental study is presented to measure the elastic, yielding, and crushing properties of individual particles under compression using substrates made of aluminum alloy, stainless steel, and sapphire. Carefully selected, highly spherical individual

Experimental investigation of stress rate and grain size on gas seepage characteristics of granular coal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Coal seam gas, held within the inner pores of unmineable coal, is an important energy resource. Gas release largely depends on the gas seepage characteristics and their evolution within granular coal.

Fractal crushing of solid particles

open access: yesKSCE Journal of Civil Engineering, 2017
It does not have widely accepted theory to study particle crushing up to now because of the complex and irregular physical structure of the particles. Fractal theory, which employs statistical concepts in order to explain particle crushing, may provide a solution to this problem.

Study on particle fragmentation evolution characteristics and contact reconstruction response characteristics at the steel–coal–rock interface in compressed structures [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
The crushing and micro-contact characteristics of powdery particles at the compressed structural steel–coal–rock interface have an important impact on the micro-contact mechanical characteristics of the structural steel surface and the macro-contact and ...

SPH calculations of asteroid disruptions: The role of pressure dependent failure models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present recent improvements of the modeling of the disruption of strength dominated bodies using the Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) technique. The improvements include an updated strength model and a friction model, which are successfully tested ...

Binary-induced collapse of a compact, collisionless cluster [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We improve and extend Shapiro's model of a relativistic, compact object which is stable in isolation but is driven dynamically unstable by the tidal field of a binary companion.
