Solvent‐Free Bonding Mechanisms and Microstructure Engineering in Dry Electrode Technology for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dry electrode technology revolutionizes battery manufacturing by eliminating toxic solvents and energy‐intensive drying. This work details two promising techniques: dry spray deposition and polymer fibrillation. How their unique solvent‐free bonding mechanisms create uniform microstructures for thicker, denser electrodes, boosting energy density and ...

Domain‐Wall‐Free Sliding Ferroelectricity in Fully Commensurate 3R Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Bilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is reported that the ferroelectric switching behavior of rhombohedral (3R) phase transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) bilayers strongly depends on their domain structures. Single‐domain TMDs (SD‐TMDs) with domain‐wall‐free structures exhibit robust and stable polarization switching, whereas poly‐domain TMDs (PD‐TMDs) with randomly distributed ...

Surface-derived fluid percolation along detachment systems enhanced by syn-kinematic granites: uranium mineralization as an application

open access: yesBSGF - Earth Sciences Bulletin
Detachment zones are privileged areas for the interaction between surface-derived fluids and rocks, potentially leading to ore deposition. However, the hydrodynamics of detachments and specifically the way by which surface-derived fluids reach crustal ...

Interconnected Porous Hydrogels with Tunable Anisotropy Through Aqueous Emulsion Bioprinting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D bioprintable microporous bioink is developed using an aqueous two‐phase system (ATPS) composed of extracellular matrix (ECM) mimetic biopolymers. The ATPS bioink enables the fabrication of interconnected porous architectures with up to 70% porosity, supporting long‐term cell viability and 3D cell alignment, enabling a simultaneous generation of ...

Particle Image Velocimetry Measurement of Wall Shear Flow Around a Bubble Growing in Carbonated Water

open access: yesApplied Sciences
An experimental technique was developed for two-dimensional Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurement of wall shear flow around a bubble growing under dissolved gas supersaturation. Carbonated water was used as dissolved-gas-supersaturated liquid, and

Shape‐Morphing Nanoengineered Hydrogel Ribbons as Hemostats

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a self‐assembling, shape‐morphing nanoengineered hydrogel ribbon system that rapidly forms porous aggregates in situ for efficient hemostasis in trauma and surgical applications. Abstract Rapid and effective hemorrhage control remains a major challenge in trauma and surgical care, particularly for complex or noncompressible wounds.

Impact of the isotope effect on divertor detachment and pedestal structure in DIII-D

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Dedicated H-mode hydrogen experiments has been conducted at DIII-D and are compared to a similar deuterium dataset under a range of divertor conditions, revealing significant effects of the isotope mass on divertor conditions and pedestal behavior.

MPI‐Guided Photothermal Therapy of Prostate Cancer Using Stem Cell Delivery of Magnetotheranostic Nanoflowers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tumor‐tropic human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) were used as delivery vehicles for magnetotheranostic gold–iron oxide nanoflowers. Magnetic particle imaging of the iron component demonstrated widespread intratumoral distribution and sustained retention in contrast to injection of naked nanoflowers.
