Modelling of the binary alloy solidification process
Bibliography: leaves 129-132.A thermodynamically consistent model capable of modelling a binary alloy undergoing solidification or melting is developed. The theory is continuum based, and the solid-liquid phase change system is described macroscopically ...

Electrochemical etching provides an eco‐friendly alternative to hazardous HF methods for MXene production. This approach facilitates the selective isolation of the A‐layer from MAX phases with tunable surface terminations. Controlling voltage, electrolytes, temperature, and duration enables the optimal structural integrity. Nevertheless, existing scale

Finite element methods for particle-laden flows
(English) In this monograph, we develop a numerical method to model dense particle-laden flows. We analyze the key components of a particle-laden flow algorithm, which are the stabilization of the fluid formulation, the modeling of the dispersed phase by means of the point-particle approach, and the design of the unresolved coupling between phases ...

Revelling pore microstructure impacts on the compressive strength of porous proppant based on finite and discrete element method [PDF]
Ceramic spheres, typically with a particle diameter of less than 0.8 mm, are frequently utilized as a critical proppant material in hydraulic fracturing for petroleum and natural gas extraction.

Low‐Fraction Irregular Inclusions Trigger Large Compression Stiffening in Biopolymer Hydrogels
Irregular inclusions at low filler fractions trigger large compression stiffening in biopolymer hydrogels. By promoting contact‐network formation under compression, these inclusions induce non‐affine rearrangements, stretch surrounding fibers, and provide parallel load‐bearing pathways.

All‐solution‐processed, low‐cost extended short‐wavelength infrared photodetectors are realized by coupling colloidal HgTe quantum dots to plasmonic In2O3:Sn,F nanocrystals. Localized surface plasmon resonances boost and spectrally tailor light absorption between 1500 and 3000 nm, enabling responsivities above 40 A W−1.

Rutile GeO2${\rm GeO}_{2}$ exhibits orientation‐dependent heat transport with temperature‐dependent anisotropy, showing higher cross‐plane thermal conductivity along [001] than along the equivalent in‐plane [100] and [010] directions. Temperature‐dependent TDTR measurements and first‐principles phonon calculations identify the microscopic phonon ...

Effect of crack position and loading conditions on SIF in SiC particles reinforced Al composite
In this paper the effect of reinforcement crack position and loading conditions (in mode I) on the stress intensity factors of the Al/SiCp metal matrix composite was examined using a finite element method.
