Binder‐free laser powder bed fusion of 8YSZ with a femtosecond laser is used to map process windows linking scan strategy, heat accumulation, and grain growth. Time‐resolved thermography and simulations reveal thermal regimes that enable continuous, vitrified, and fine‐grained 8YSZ surface layers without absorptive additives and demonstrate ...

Conforming finite element methods for the clamped plate problem [PDF]
Finite element methods for solving biharmonic boundary value problems are considered. The particular problem discussed is that of a clamped thin plate. This problem is reformulated in a weak, form in the Sobolev space Techniques for setting up conforming

Effect of crack position and size of particle on SIF in SiC particles reinforced Al composite
In this paper the effect of reinforcement crack position and loading conditions (in mode I) on the stress intensity factors of the Al/SiCp metal matrix composite was examined using a finite element method.

An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Possibilities of the particle finite element method in computational mechanics [PDF]
We present some developments in the formulation of the Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM) for analysis of complex coupled problems in fluid and solid mechanics accounting for fluid-structure interaction and coupled thermal effects. The PFEM uses an updated Lagrangian description to model the motion of nodes (particles) in both the fluid and the ...

Direct Sampling of Monte Carlo Flight Paths in Tetrahedral Meshes with Linear Finite-Element Cross Sections [PDF]
This paper describes how to directly sample Monte Carlo flight paths to simulate particle transport in media with continuously varying cross sections without using iterative methods.

Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

Historical Foundation and Practical Guideline for Ferroelectric Switching Kinetic Studies
The P and U pulses in the conventional PUND measurements are not identical because of the interplay between switching current and the measurement circuit components. This circuit effect can lead to a shift in polarization transients and misinterpreted physics in the switching kinetics.

An Improved Particle Finite Element Method for the Simulation of Machining Processes.
Machining is one of the most common and versatile manufacturing processes in industry, e.g. automotive industry and aerospace industry. But classical numerical methods such as the Finite Element Method (FEM) have difficulties to simulate it, because the material undergoes large deformations, large strain, large strain rates and high temperatures in ...
