Nonlinearity Analysis and Parameters Optimization for an Inductive Angle Sensor

open access: yesSensors, 2014
Using the finite element method (FEM) and particle swarm optimization (PSO), a nonlinearity analysis based on parameter optimization is proposed to design an inductive angle sensor.

An Interface-Fitted Fictitious Domain Finite Element Method for the Simulation of Neutrally Buoyant Particles in Plane Shear Flow

open access: yesFluids, 2023
In this paper, an interface-fitted fictitious domain finite element method is developed for the simulation of fluid–rigid particle interaction problems in cases of rotated particles with small displacement, where an interface-fitted mesh is employed for ...

Mitigating Creep Anisotropy and Enhancing Performance in Additively Manufactured Ni‐Based Superalloys: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing introduces pronounced microstructural and crystallographic anisotropy in Ni‐based superalloys, resulting in orientation‐dependent creep deformation and damage. This review identifies the key microstructural origins of creep anisotropy, examines their influence on dominant deformation mechanisms, and highlights processing ...

Using the scaled boundary finite element method to model 2D time-dependent geotechnical engineering problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The scaled boundary finite element method caters well for soil-structure interaction problems, but the formulation does not cater for the presence of changing pore pressures with time, body loads and tractions. A detailed formulation is presented in this

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Determination of Particle Paths using the Finite-Element Method [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 1986
Abstract Large ice masses contain a wealth of information regarding past climates and atmospheric chemistry. To interpret properly information from ice cores obtained from glaciers, a time-scale for the ice core must be established.

The finite-volume method in computational rheology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The finite volume method (FVM) is widely used in traditional computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and many commercial CFD codes are based on this technique which is typically less demanding in computational resources than finite element methods (FEM ...

A fully discrete evolving surface finite element method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper we consider a time discrete evolving surface finite element method for the advection and diffusion of a conserved scalar quantity on a moving surface.
