A particle finite element method for analysis of industrial forming processes

open access: yesComputational Mechanics, 2014
We present a generalized Lagrangian formulation for analysis of industrial forming processes involving thermally coupled interactions between deformable continua. The governing equations for the deformable bodies are written in a unified manner that holds both for fluids and solids.

Coupling Simulation Algorithm of Discrete Element Method and Finite Element Method for Particle Damper [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, 2009
One advantage of the particle damper is that its property is independent of the surrounding temperature. This allows it to be used in harsh environments where traditional dampers fail. But current design of this damper mainly depends on experimental results because of a lack of theoretical research.

Photoswitchable Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A conductive material where the conductivity can be modulated remotely by irradiation with light is presented. It is based on films of conductive metal–organic framework type Cu3(HHTP)2 with embedded photochromic molecules such as azobenzene, diarylethene, spiropyran, and hexaarylbiimidazole in the pores.

Determination of the flow field in the phenomenon of falling of sediment particles in near-stagnant water using the two-dimensional Burger equation solution with the fully implicit finite difference method [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی منابع آب, 2020
Physical processes are dependent on various parameters that are modeled in their mathematical language with their own equation. Since some nonlinear partial differential equations are so difficult to solve, hence obtain their analytical solution except ...

Evaluating the performance of the particle finite element method in parallel architectures [PDF]

open access: yesComputational Particle Mechanics, 2014
This paper presents a high performance implementation for the particle-mesh based method called particle finite element method two (PFEM-2). It consists of a material derivative based formulation of the equations with a hybrid spatial discretization which uses an Eulerian mesh and Lagrangian particles.

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Effect of crack position and size of particle on SIF in SiC particles reinforced Al composite

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2019
In this paper the effect of reinforcement crack position and loading conditions (in mode I) on the stress intensity factors of the Al/SiCp metal matrix composite was examined using a finite element method.

A second-order semi-Lagrangian particle finite element method for fluid flows [PDF]

open access: yesComputational Particle Mechanics, 2019
In this paper, a second-order SL-PFEM scheme for solving the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations is presented. This scheme is based on the second-order velocity Verlet algorithm, which uses an explicit integration for the particle’s trajectory and an implicit integration for the velocity.

Positive‐Tone Nanolithography of Antimony Trisulfide with Femtosecond Laser Wet‐Etching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A butyldithiocarbamic acid (BDCA) etchant is used to fabricate various micro‐ and nanoscale structures on amorphous antimony trisulfide (a‐Sb2S3) thin film via femtosecond laser etching. Numerical analysis and experimental results elucidate the patterning mechanism on gold (reflective) and quartz (transmissive) substrates.
