Vertical flux of particles in the ocean

Deep Sea Research and Oceanographic Abstracts, 1975
Abstract Although most material both on the sea bed and in suspension is very fine, evidence suggests that most material reaching the bottom does so rapidly in aggregates. Sizes of suspended material below 200 to 400 m in the oceans follow a hyperbolic distribution with slopes between −2.4 and −3.6.

Single-particle motion in a random magnetic flux

Physical Review B, 1993
The motion of a quantum particle in a random magnetic flux in two dimensions is investigated. Two situations are distinguished, a ``Debye'' phase where the fluxes are uncorrelated, and a ``Meissner'' phase where the fluxes appear as neutral pairs. A geometrical interpretation of effective single-particle action in these phases is emphasized.

Fluxes of Dust Particles in the Martian System

Technical Physics Letters, 2020
We have calculated the mass fluxes and dust particle fluxes the presence of which in orbits around Mars is due to collisions between meteoroids with Phobos and Deimos. The size distributions of dust particles captured in orbits around Mars are determined.

Flux of particles in the optical model

Nuclear Physics, 1959
Abstract The flux of 18 MeV α-particles in argon is calculated with two optical model potentials which give similar elastic scattering and reaction cross sections. Although these potentials are similar in the nuclear surface, they give different fluxes inside the potential and in particular different values for the divergence of the flux which ...

Study of the Interaction of Fluxes of Annihilating Particles

Russian Physics Journal, 2015
A study of interacting particle fluxes in the form of an infinite linear queueing system with positive and negative requests is presented for different types of such systems. For the first class of systems with exponential service a stationary probability distribution of the number of positive requests in the system has been found. For the second class

Biosiliceous particle flux in the Southern Ocean

Marine Chemistry, 1991
Abstract The flux of diatom valves and radiolarian shells obtained during short-term and annual sediment trap experiments at seven localities in the Atlantic sector of the Antarctic Ocean (in the Drake Passage, Bransfield Strait, Powell Basin, NW and SE Weddell Sea and the Polar Front north of Bouvet Island) is summarized and discussed.

Energy and particle fluxes in PLD processes

Applied Surface Science, 1997
The main advantage of the PLD process consists in thin film deposition by a plasma flow with high kinetic particle energy. The energy and mass balance of the particle beam formation generated by laser ablation is the key for qualitative and quantitative understanding of the fundamental processes.

Particle-flux limits in the synchronous orbit

Journal of Geophysical Research, 1972
Examination of measurements of 40- and 75-keV electrons and 60and 120-keV protons on the ATS 5 satellite in synchronous orbit in order to show that fluxes of such particles often approach but rarely exceed limiting values that agree within a factor of about 2 with the fluxes predicted by Kennel and Petschek (1966) from consideration of whistler-mode ...
