Velocity and particle-flux characteristics of turbulent particle-laden jets

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1989
The velocity and flux of spherical glass beads with nominal diameters of 200, 80 and 40 μm have been obtained by phase-Doppler anemometry in a round unconfined air jet over the first 28 diameters. The jet diameter was 15 mm and the exit velocity was 13 ms -1 giving a Reynolds number of 13 000 and a timescale of 1.15

Trapped Particle Distributions and Flux Mapping

1970
So far we have been concerned with individual particle motion and with its properties, in arbitrary magnetic fields and in some special models of the magnetosphere. In this chapter we shall show how to relate this theory to actual observations on trapped particles, as might be performed by a spacecraft orbiting through the radiation belts.
