Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

A New Motion Model Selection Approach for Multi-Model Particle Filters [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2019
One of the important factors in real-time tracking of the moving radar targets is the speed of the algorithm. In the multi-model particle filters (MMPFs) which is frequently preferred tracking of such targets, the numbers of particles and motion models ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

A Geometric Model For Extended Particles

open access: yes, 2012
Here we combine the ideas of a quantum functional theory intended to describe intrinsically extended particles with those of a geometro-stochastic one describing stochastically extended particles. The main ingredients of the former are a physical wave $u$ replacing the point ${\bf x}$ and a functional wave $X[u,t]$ replacing the probability wave ...

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Elastoplastic constitutive model for granular materials considering meso-particle damage

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
Establishing a constitutive model for granular materials that accounts for particle shape and breakage mechanisms has been crucial for calculating the mechanical stability of earth-rock dam projects. Initially, through the triaxial compression tests, the

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

A physical particle model of morphogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper describes an evolutionary process which produces dynamic biologic-like patterns. Simulation and visualization of the development of cell populations has many applications. For example, developmental biology and computer graphics. Physically-based particle models are efficient to simulate the dynamical behavior of real life objects.
