Auroral Phenomena Associated with Particle Precipitations
1966About 65 years ago it was shown by Birkeland (1901) that the aurora could be produced through impact of energetic, charged particles from Space, and for many years the different phenomena in the auroral ionosphere were the main indicators of the particle fluxes in space.
