Using Fine Sediment Monitoring to Quantify Sand Loading Over Time
ABSTRACT Riverine sand loading can lead to geomorphic change, impacting river processes like lateral migration and vertical aggradation or degradation. Yet many sediment monitoring programs track only fine sediment measurable as total suspended solids (TSS). Here, we assess the ability for TSS data to be used to determine sand loading.

Tracking non-spherical particle position and orientation
A new method for tracking both position and orientation of non-spherical particles under free-fall conditions in water has been developed. The particles are recorded with background illumination in a water tank.

Wind Tunnel Assessment of Dynamic Induction Control Under Varying Inflow Wind Directions
ABSTRACT Dynamic induction control (DIC), also known as pulse control, is a wake‐mixing strategy intended to improve wind farm efficiency by mitigating wake‐induced power losses. It typically employs harmonic collective blade pitching to excite wake instabilities, forming coherent pulsing structures that enhance turbulent mixing and accelerate wake ...

Super-Resolution Particle Tracking Velocimetry
Digital particle image velocimetry (DPIV) is a quantitative flow visualization technique that uses digitally recorded video images to measure the velocity field of fluid flows (Willert and Gharib, 1991). In a typical DPIV application, the flow field is

Abstract Nowadays, Mars presents an environment characterized by low atmospheric pressure (∼6 mbar), which profoundly alters water‐driven surface processes known from Earth. Under these conditions, water rapidly boils, cools, and stabilizes near the triple point, often freezing, which strongly limits its ability to transport sediment.

Stereo Thermal Marking Velocimetry
This paper presents a novel approach to measuring and mapping shape and motion of the water surface. The approach combines and borrows from existing techniques, such as stereo imaging shape recognition and tracking, infrared (IR) laser marking and ...
