Modeling particulate organic matter diagenesis with SED2K
2020Future Work Sedimented POM consists of a labile fraction that participates in biogeochemical reactions, collectively termed diagenesis, and a refractory fraction that is ultimately buried. The diagenetic reactions include oxidation of carbon mediated by oxygen, nitrate, iron, manganese and sulfate and a fermentation, methanogenesis.

Characterization of polar organics in airborne particulate matter
Atmospheric Environment (1967), 1986Abstract The methanol-extractable highly polar organics in atmospheric aerosol were characterized using GC-MS. Dicarboxylic acids having 2–16 carbon numbers were detected with a total concentration of 172 ng m −3 . Azelaic acid ( C 9 ) was the most abundant diacid and it possibly originated from the ozonolysis of unsaturated carboxylic acids such as

Budgeting the particulate organic matter from the suspended particulate matter in shelf seas
Dissolved CO2 and buried organic matter budgets have been studied in shelf seas to identify carbon fractions that are exported to the ocean interior or preserved in the sediment. However, the fate of suspended particulate organic matter remains less understood, particularly because its lability is difficult to identify.Xavier Desmit +5 more
