Impacts of Precipitation Variability on Carbon Flux Dynamics of Global Semi‐Arid Savannas
Semi‐arid ecosystems contribute most to the variability of the land carbon sink. They are water‐limited and therefore increased precipitation variability due to climate change has strong effects on their carbon cycle. We investigate the effects of precipitation amount, frequency, intensity and dry spell length on carbon fluxes of global semi‐arid ...

Abstract In the C4‐dominated semiarid grasslands of the western Great Plains (Colorado, USA), spring soil moisture (soil volumetric water content, SoilVWC) is thought to be a critical determinant of aboveground net primary production (ANPP) and overall carbon cycling. However, because evidence for this is based on observational studies, we attempted to

On parton showers and multi parton interaction
In high energy hadron-hadron collisons (like for example at LHC) Drell Yan processes are important. For a precise determination of the inclusive crosssection higher order calculations must be taken into account. In the region of phase space near threshold (where soft gluon emission dominates) largedouble logarithmic corrections become important.

The Parton Branching method offers a Monte Carlo solution to the DGLAP evolution equations by incorporating Sudakov form factors. In this approach, the Sudakov form factor can be divided into perturbative and non-perturbative components, with the non ...

Parton distribution functions [PDF]
Parton distribution functions give the probability to find partons (quarks and gluons) in a hadron as a function of the fraction x of the proton's momentum carried by the parton. They are conventionally defined in terms of matrix elements of certain operators.

Intrinsic bottom and its impact on heavy new physics at the LHC
Heavy quark parton distribution functions (PDFs) play an important role in several Standard Model and New Physics processes. Most analyses rely on the assumption that the charm and bottom PDFs are generated perturbatively by gluon splitting and do not ...

Parton Coalescence and Spacetime [PDF]
The influence of spacetime dynamics in hadronization via parton coalescence at RHIC is investigated using covariant parton transport theory. Key observables, the quark number scaling of elliptic flow and the enhancement of the p/pi ratio, show strong dynamical effects and differ from earlier results based on the simple coalescence formulas.

Approach to parton equilibration [PDF]
Perturbative QCD-based models of parton production and equilibration in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions are reviewed with an emphasis on the treatment of quantum interference effects. Uncertainties in the initial parton production and their effects on later parton equilibration are considered. Probes of early parton dynamics are also discussed.

A model calculation of double parton distribution functions of the pion
Two-parton correlations in the pion are investigated in terms of double parton distribution functions. A Poincaré covariant light-front framework has been adopted.
