Combining single and double parton scatterings in a parton shower [PDF]
Abstract Double parton scattering (DPS) processes in which there is a perturbative “1 → 2” splitting in both protons overlap with loop corrections to single parton scattering (SPS). Any fundamental theoretical treatment of DPS needs to address this double-counting issue.

We report on the possibility of reweighting parton-shower Monte Carlo predictions for scale variations in the parton-shower algorithm. The method is based on a generalization of the Sudakov veto algorithm. We demonstrate the feasibility of this approach using example physical distributions.

Elastic parton-parton scattering from AdS/CFT [PDF]
Using the AdS/CFT correspondence and the eikonal approximation, we evaluate the elastic parton-parton scattering amplitude at large $N$ and strong coupling $g^2N$ in N=4 SYM. We obtain a scattering amplitude with a Regge behavior that unitarizes at large $\sqrt{s}$.
