The Relic Abundance of Long-lived Heavy Colored Particles

open access: yes, 2008
Long-lived colored particles with masses m > 200 GeV are allowed by current accelerator searches, and are predicted by a number of scenarios for physics beyond the standard model.

Supervision as a Dispersed Practice: Exploring the Creation of Supervisory Spaces in Day‐to‐Day Social Work Practice

open access: yesChild &Family Social Work, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Supervision is integral to social work practice; however, how it operates in day‐to‐day practice remains poorly understood. Existing research mainly comprises quantitative and qualitative accounts of social workers' and supervisors' experiences of supervision.

Precise description of medium-induced emissions

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
We study jet fragmentation via final-state parton splittings in the medium. These processes are usually calculated theoretically by invoking the large-N c limit.

Accountability and Hyperaccountability in Child Protection Scandals

open access: yesChild &Family Social Work, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The number of child abuse–related deaths has decreased significantly in the United Kingdom over the past 50 years, but there remains public and political concern about the actual and perceived risk of child deaths, with resultant processes enacted to supervise child protection practice.

Jet Drift in Heavy Ion Collisions [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
We introduce a sub-eikonal anisotropic contribution to jetbroadening, “jet drift”, that couples to the flow of the medium, showing that this effect results in a deflection of hard partons, and thus jets, in the direction of the medium flow.

Invertible networks or partons to detector and back again

open access: yesSciPost Physics, 2020
For simulations where the forward and the inverse directions have a physics meaning, invertible neural networks are especially useful. A conditional INN can invert a detector simulation in terms of high-level observables, specifically for ZW production ...

Generalised Parton Distributions in Continuum Schwinger Methods: Progresses, Opportunities and Challenges

open access: yesParticles, 2023
This paper review the modelling efforts regarding Generalised Parton Distributions (GPDs) using continuum techniques relying on Dyson–Schwinger and Bethe–Salpeter equations. The definition and main properties of the GPDs are first recalled.

Elliptic Flow arising from Ridges due to Semi-hard Scattering

open access: yes, 2008
Azimuthal anisotropy in heavy-ion collisions is studied by taking into account the ridges generated by semi-hard scattering of intermediate-momentum partons, which can be sensitive to the initial spatial configuration of the medium in non-central ...

Decision‐Making in Emergency Foster Care: An Insider Perspective on Current Practices and Possibilities for Change

open access: yesChild &Family Social Work, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Emergency foster care is a protection measure for children who are in a situation of abuse and/or neglect—or at imminent risk of it—that requires an assessment to make a decision. In Catalonia (Spain), emergency foster care placements are designed for children aged 0–6 and can last up to a maximum of 6 months.
