Optimisation of in-situ dry density estimation

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2016
Nowadays, field experiments are mostly used to determine the resistance and settlements of a soil before building. The needed devices were heavy so they cannot be used in every situation.

Changes in the nuclear proteome of developing wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) grain

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2015
Wheat grain end-use value is determined by complex molecular interactions that occur during grain development, including those in the cell nucleus. However our knowledge of how the nuclear proteome changes during grain development is limited.

The Floor‐Ceiling‐Chip, or 2 × 2D = Pseudo‐3D—Approaching 3D Cell Morphology and Organization between Two Opposing 2D Substrates with Cell‐Adhesive Protein Micropatterns

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we present a novel 3D cell patterning and culture platform. The “Floor‐Ceiling‐Chip” (FC‐Chip) consists of two opposing track‐etched membranes, creating a pseudo‐3D microenvironment for the cells in between. By providing the membranes with micropatterned cell‐adhesive islands of varying geometries and sizes, the FC‐Chip enables control over cell ...

Study of the variation of B with Sr

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2016
Skempton coefficient B is commonly used to verify the saturation of a sample before triaxial testing. This coefficient is obtained during undrained isotropic consolidation and is defined as the ratio between the increment of pore pressure u measured and ...

Emotional state and time perception: effects of film-induced mood

open access: yesFrontiers in Integrative Neuroscience, 2011
Previous research into emotion and time perception has been designed to study the time perception of emotional events themselves (e.g., facial expression).

Automatic Detection and Feature Estimation of Windows for Refining Building Facades in 3D Urban Point Clouds [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2014
This paper presents a method that automatically detects windows of different shapes, in 3D LiDAR point clouds obtained from mobile terrestrial data acquisition systems in the urban environment.

Liquid Metal Microrobots for Magnetically Guided Transvascular Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid metal‐based microrobots combine magnetic steering, intrinsic X‐ray visibility and softness, to navigate blood vessels even against flow. Under clinically relevant magnetic fields, liquid metal microrobots roll along vessel walls, cross endothelial barriers, and accumulate in target tissues.

Influence of saturation degree and role of suction in unsaturated soils behaviour: application to liquefaction

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2016
The effect of the pore fluid compressibility on liquefaction has been studied by various authors. But few papers have been published about the role of suction in cyclic behavior of unsaturated soils.

Diversity and dynamics of active microbial eukaryotes in the anoxic zone of a freshwater meromictic lake (Pavin, France)

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2016
Microbial eukaryotes play a crucial role in ecosystem functioning and oxygen is considered to be one of the strongest barriers against their local dispersal.

RF Magnetron Sputtered Tungsten Disulfide Films: Influence of Target Preparation, Deposition Parameters, and Storage Conditions on Thin Film Stoichiometry

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Sputtered WS2 films were investigated in terms of their S‐ and O‐concentration depending on deposition power and pre‐sputter time. Chemical and structural investigations were done using EDS, TEM, SEM, AFM, XRD. In general, 20 W films exhibit a wide variation in stoichiometry and structure whereas 80 W films demonstrate a higher S/W ratio than 20 W ...
