The Translation of Slang and Swear Words in Deadpool Movie: The Analysis of Equivalence in the Source and Target Language

open access: yes, 2019
This qualitative descriptive study aims to analyze the equivalence technique in English-Bahasa Indonesia translation of slang and swear words in Deadpool movie. The concept of formal and dynamic equivalences which is proposed by Nida (1964) is applied in

Is There a Spatial Analogue of the Passage of Time? [PDF]

open access: yesФилософия и космология, 2017
It is exceedingly frequent for people to speak of the ‘passing of time’. We do not, on the other hand, speak of the ‘passing of space’. There do not seem to be any common locutions concerning spatial passage analogous to those of time’s assumed passage ...

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Ease-of-retrieval mediates the relations of negative emotional states and passage of time judgments

open access: yesActa Psychologica
Little research has investigated the relations of emotional states and passage of time judgments over a long period and explored the mechanisms underlying the relations.

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

A comparative study of time perception in long-term meditators and non-meditators

open access: yesActa Psychologica
This study investigates how mindfulness meditation influences time perception by comparing practicing meditators and non-meditators (n = 30) on retrospective and prospective timing tasks. Retrospective time perception was assessed after an 11-min session

Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Experimental measurement of quantum first-passage time distributions

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
Classical first-passage time distributions have been extensively studied both theoretically and experimentally. Their quantum counterparts—quantum first-passage time distributions (QFPTDs)—remain largely unexplored and have deep implications for both ...
