Passive Acoustic Identification of Social Groups in the Hainan Gibbon

Passive acoustic monitoring offers a non‐invasive means of assessing visually hard‐to‐survey wildlife species with distinctive vocalizations. We evaluated whether deep learning can identify Hainan gibbon (Nomascus hainanus) social groups from their calls.

How Passive Acoustic and Traditional Monitoring Estimate Bird Diversity Across Habitats

We compared traditional bird counts (PC) with passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) in a heterogeneous Alpine landscape. PAM recorded twice as many species, with a strong correlation between species richness and the bird counts (rs = 0.71); however, there were significant differences depending on habitat type.
