Polarimetric passive coherent location

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2015
In this paper the exploitation of different linear polarimetric channels is considered as a way to mitigate the effect of interfering sources and to improve the target detection capability in an FM radio-based passive radar. The signals emitted on same/adjacent frequency channels by potential transmitters (other than the illuminator of opportunity ...

Passive coherent location radar demonstration

Proceedings of the Thirty-Fourth Southeastern Symposium on System Theory (Cat. No.02EX540), 2003
This paper describes a passive coherent location (PCL) radar system developed by Dynetics, Inc. This system uses commercial FM broadcast signals for the radar waveform. This paper presents a technical description of the system and performance data.

Passive coherent location matched filter alternative

2017 IEEE Radar Conference (RadarConf), 2017
This paper introduces an alternative method to traditional matched filtering for PCL applications. The developed method adapts the filter structure rather than the underlying signal of the surveillance channel. This allows for minimization of interference or noise present in the surveillance channel that are correlated or uncorrelated with the ...

Doppler compensation for passive coherent location

6th International Conference on Signal Processing, 2002., 2003
For target movement without velocity information in a passive coherent location system, the unknown Doppler shift between the direct signal and the target echo results in a decrease of the highest peak output value and the occurrence of some false peaks. Several Doppler compensation methods are compared in terms of the Doppler decorrelation loss factor.

DVB-T2 passive coherent location radar

2016 IEEE NW Russia Young Researchers in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Conference (EIConRusNW), 2016
In this paper, an overview of the passive coherent location radar utilizing transmitter of signals of the second generation digital terrestrial television DVB-T2 standard as an illuminator of opportunity is presented. The radar antenna is designed as an 16-element phased antenna array. The signal reception and analog-to-digital conversion are performed

Multistatic passive coherent location resource optimization

SPIE Proceedings, 2017
Passive Coherent Location (PCL) is a developing radar technique, in which the system processes reflections from opportunistic illumination sources in the environment for detection and tracking. Many developments and improvements of PCL implement pseudo-monostatic and bistatic radar configurations; however, with the proliferation of commercial ...

ANNDP-TBD algorithm for passive coherent location

2017 36th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2017
In order to address the problem of detecting and tracking low signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) targets in bistatic passive coherent location (PCL) system, an improved dynamic programming track-before-detect algorithm is proposed. First, the polar measurements are converted to Cartesian measurements.

Digital beamforming for Passive Coherent Location radar

2008 IEEE Radar Conference, 2008
The paper presents digital beamforming for Passive Coherent Location (PCL) radar. The considered circular antenna array is a part of a passive system developed at Warsaw University of Technology. The system is based on FM radio transmitters. The array consists of eight half-wave dipoles arranged in a circular array covering 360deg with multiple beams ...

Passive Coherent Location With Unknown Transmitter States

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2017
This paper addresses the problem of passive coherent location (PCL) using a mobile transmitter with unknown state as an illuminator of opportunity. First, the necessary and sufficient conditions for local observability are derived using the Fisher information matrix (FIM).

Acceleration estimation for Passive Coherent Location radar

2008 IEEE Radar Conference, 2008
The paper presents a method for estimation of acceleration in passive coherent location (PCL) radar. The method is based on the Generalized Chirp Transform, which is a maximum likelihood estimator in this case. The authors propose a fast and efficient algorithm for calculating acceleration by filtering a two-dimensional range-Doppler surface.
