On angle estimation in GSM passive coherent location systems

2016 17th International Radar Symposium (IRS), 2016
The paper discusses the angle of arrival (AOA) estimation task in GSM based passive coherent location (PCL) systems that bases on the scan pattern maximization method. Being optimal at maximum likelihood (ML) sense for the continuous case, this method may degrade if only discrete values of the pattern are available and the scan rate is low.

White space Passive Coherent Location system based on IEEE 802.22

2015 16th International Radar Symposium (IRS), 2015
In this work we describe a Passive Coherent Location (PCL) system that exploits the signals emitted by IEEE 802.22 devices, operating in the white spaces of the VHF/UHF TV bands. The analysed system is called White Space PCL (WS-PCL). To cope with the very low transmitted EIRP of the IEEE 802.22 devices, we focus on the design of a WS-PCL system that ...

Data Fusion in MIMO DVB-T-Based Passive Coherent Location

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2013
Efficient combination of MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) and PCL (passive coherent location) ideas is expected to improve performance of localization schemes. While, in general, adding the number of transmit and receive antennas provides spatial diversity, it is possible to obtain similar effects by using multiple transmitters that are already ...

Joint TDOA-DOA localization scheme for passive coherent location systems

2012 8th International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks & Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP), 2012
This work presents a new approach to airborne target localization in a passive radar system. Using a joint time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) and direction-of-arrival (DOA) localization technique, each receiver is capable of estimating both TDOA and DOA information of a far distant signal source.

Multistatic Doppler Estimation Using Global Positioning System Passive Coherent Location

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2019
In previous works, methods were explored for position estimation utilizing satellite-borne signals of opportunity, mainly the global positioning system (GPS). The GPS signal was exploited for use in a multistatic passive coherent location (PCL) system.
