Comparison of the corrosion and passivity behavior between CrMnFeCoNi and CrFeCoNi coatings prepared by argon arc cladding

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
The corrosion behavior and passive film properties of CrMnFeCoNi and CrFeCoNi coatings in 0.5 mol/L H2SO4 solution were investigated by potentiodynamic and potentiostatic measurements, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and Mott-Schottky tests.

Comprehending the role of individual microstructural features on electrochemical response and passive film behaviour in type 304 austenitic stainless steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The individual implication of sensitization, grain size, residual strain, and grain boundary character distribution on semiconducting response of passive film in 304 stainless steel is investigated. Involvement of higher donor densities in the sensitized

Effects of W Addition on the Electrochemical Behaviour and Passive Film Properties of Fe-Based Amorphous Alloys in Acetic Acid Solution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The electrochemical behaviour and passive film properties of Fe-Cr-Mo-W-C-B-Y amorphous alloys in acetic acid solution were investigated. The potentiodynamic polarisation and Nyquist curves demonstrated that W addition significantly enhanced the ...

Visibility of dielectrically passivated graphene films

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2017
The visibility of monolayer graphene is dependent on its surrounding dielectric environment and the presence of any contamination associated with 2D layer transfer. Here, the optical contrast of residually contaminated monolayer graphene encased within a range of dielectric stacks characteristic of realistic devices is examined, highlighting the ...

In situ XANES study of the cathodic reduction behavior of the passive film on iron and artificial passive films [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The objective of the present work is to compare the behavior of the passive film on iron with artificial passive films (thin sputter-deposited films of iron oxides on inert substrates). In situ XANES measurements were used to monitor both dissolution and

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Aging of passive film on UNS N08031 in a Green-Death solution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Aging of passive film formed on UNS N08031 was investigated as a function of passivation time in Green-Death solution at 40°C. The specimen surface was in a stable passive state in the solution.

High‐Resolution Corrosion Fingerprinting of Alloy Libraries via Microdroplet Spectroelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic‐liquid microdroplet spectroelectrochemistry enables stable, localized electrochemical measurements over extended timescales. By coupling impedance spectroscopy, wetting analysis, finite‐element simulations, and operando Raman spectroscopy, it disentangles geometrical and electrochemical effects, opening new opportunities for rapid corrosion ...
