In lithium‐ion batteries, heat conduction varies between the through‐plane and in‐plane directions because of the cell's layered structure. Therefore, cell degradation influences thermal conductivity in each direction uniquely due to detailed microstructural and compositional changes.

Aberration-corrected TEM study on the influence of HCO3−/ CO32− concentration and Cl− on FeCr15Ni15Mo2 alloy in alkaline solutions

Carbonation of concrete pore solution results in a drop of pH value and introduction of HCO3−/CO32−. The drop of pH has been identified as an important factor in causing general corrosion by destabilizing passive films on stainless steels.
