Image Authentication Using Active Watermarking and Passive Forensics Techniques

2011
The primary reason for the requirement of authenticating images stems from the increasing amount of doctored images that are presented as accurate representations of real-life events, but are later discovered to be faked. The history of manipulating images reaches back almost as far as photography itself, and with the ease of use and availability of ...

Passive Blind Forensic Scheme for Copy-Move Temporal Tampering Detection

2018 International Conference On Advances in Communication and Computing Technology (ICACCT), 2018
This paper contributes in detecting temporal tampering in the Moving Picture Experts Group-4 (MPEG-4) digital video using passive blind forensic scheme. In temporal tampering attack, one or more frames are copied from video and pasted at some other location in the same video to hide or highlight particular activity.

Differentiating synthetic and optical zooming for passive video forgery detection: An anti-forensic perspective

Digital Investigation, 2019
Abstract A video can be manipulated using synthetic zooming without using the state-of-the-art video forgeries. Synthetic zooming is performed by upscaling individual frames of a video with varying scale factors followed by cropping them to the original frame size.

Blind Passive Media Forensics: Motivation and Opportunity

2007
In this presentation, I will describe the motivating scenarios and applications for blind-passive media forensics (BPMF) technologies, contrasting them with conventional solutions that require adoption of end-to-end protocols or embedding of watermarks.

Passive Monitoring of Mental Health Status in the Criminal Forensic Population.

The journal of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, 2020
Current approaches to monitoring patients' mental status rely heavily on self-reported symptomatology, clinician observation, and self-rated symptom scales. The limitations inherent in these methodologies have implications for the accuracy of diagnosis, treatment planning, and prognosis.

A review of passive forensic techniques for detection of copy-move attacks on digital videos

2016 3rd International Conference on Advanced Computing and Communication Systems (ICACCS), 2016
In recent times, the ease in availability and usability of digital video editing tools has become a major challenge to video forensic experts, to accurately authenticate any suspected digital video content. Besides, the wide range and rapid advancement in the field of such editing tools and improvements in anti-forensic techniques has enabled any naive

Passive TCP Reconstruction and Forensic Analysis with tcpflow

2013
Passive TCP session reconstruction essential for many kinds of network forensics and law enforcement operations, but it is is complicated by packet loss, retransmissions, and possible attacks by adversaries. The key problem is that participants in the TCP session may observe the TCP segments differently than the monitor.

A passive forensic scheme for copy-move forgery based on superpixel segmentation and K-means clustering

Multimedia Tools and Applications, 2019
Copy-move forgery is a commonly used operation for digital image. Most of the existing copy-move schemes designed to region duplication are block-based and keypoint-based. In general, block-based methods fail to handle geometric transformations. Though keypoint-based methods can handle geometric transformations, they have a poor detection effect on the

Rock Varnish: A Passive Forensic Tool for Monitoring Recent Air Pollution and Source Identification

Nuclear Technology, 2011
AbstractRock varnish samples were collected near three point sources of air pollution to determine if the varnish contained a record of recent air pollution. Samples were collected as follows: downwind of the Nevada Test Site (NTS); in the fallout pattern of the shuttered Mohave Power Plant, located in Laughlin, Nevada; and, near the operating Reid ...
