Frequency hopped wireless passive sensing system with harmonic transponder antenna sensor
2015 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium, 2015This paper presents a passive wireless sensing paradigm based on the harmonic transponder comprising an antenna covered with a metamaterial-inspired helical structure, which is sensitive to the liquid-level within. An interrogator transmits frequency hopped UHF RFID signals to the transponder, and a sniffer detects the harmonic signal from the ...

A Novel Passive RFID Transponder Using Harmonic Generation of Nonlinear Transmission Lines
IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2010We present a novel RF identification transponder based on nonlinear transmission lines (NLTLs). The NLTLs provide an effective solution to self-jamming with the harmonic generation property, and they are passive, compact, and offer easy impedance. Three NLTLs are fabricated with a different Bragg cutoff frequency fT in an IBM 8RF 0.13-μ m CMOS process.

Diplexer-Based Fully Passive Harmonic Transponder for Sub-6-GHz 5G-Compatible IoT Applications
IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2019A novel diplexer-based fully passive transponder is presented in this paper, which targets sub-6-GHz 5G-compatible internet-of-things applications. To alleviate the antenna design restrictions of traditional transponder with two separate antennas, a new architecture has been proposed with the introduction of a diplexer, which allows transponder to ...

Analysis and Exploitation of Diplexer-based Fully Passive Harmonic Transponder for 5G Applications
2018 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on 5G Hardware and System Technologies (IMWS-5G), 2018An analytical model for the conversion loss (CL) calculation of diode-based fully passive harmonic transponders is proposed in this work. Given diode’s SPICE parameters, the proposed model can accurately predict second-harmonic output based on RF input power. Thus, CL can be easily obtained.

Improving Conversion Loss Performance of Fully Passive Harmonic Transponder at Low Temperature
2019 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC), 2019Conversion loss performance of fully passive harmonic transponders, which is drastically affected by low power mixing operation, determines their detection ranges directly. This work presents both theoretical and experimental studies of thermal effects on the performance of fully passive harmonic transponders.

Wireless Passive Temperature Sensor based on a Harmonic Transponder and a Thermistor
2023 IEEE 13th International Conference on RFID Technology and Applications (RFID-TA), 2023This paper presents a novel wireless zero-power temperature sensor. Through the combination of harmonic radio frequency identification (RFID) technology and the concept of amplitude modulation, it was possible to create a transponder, which can therefore also be used for sensing applications. The prototype was obtained by combining a Schottky-diode for
