A Scaling Analysis for a General Passive Heat Removal System
Volume 6A: Thermal-Hydraulics and Safety Analyses, 2018Passive cooling technology has been adopted by more and more designs of advanced PWRs, because of its benefits to simplifying the design of safety systems, to reducing mis-operations performed by operators during accidents, and to cutting the cost of operation and maintenance.

Heat Transfer Modeling of the LSTF Passive Residual Heat Removal System
Nuclear Engineering, 1997Abstract Data from a model Passive Residual Heat Removal (PRHR) system operated in the ROSA facility during simulated loss-of-coolant accidents were compared with heat transfer calculations using a one-dimensional steady-state computer model. The calculations agree reasonably well with the data.

Design and modeling of the passive residual heat removal system for VVERs
Annals of Nuclear Energy, 2016Abstract The results and effects of the Fukushima Daiichi accident show that the passive safety systems, which require no user input in order to operate, are very significant in nuclear industry. Even after stopping the reactor, heat dissipation remains a primary concern.

A Numerical Research on the Heat Transfer Process for a General Passive Heat Removal System
Volume 6: Thermal-Hydraulics, 2017A code module for simulating a general passive heat removal system composed of an elevated water tank, a heat exchanger and pipes connecting them is developed in this paper. Then, a typical heat transfer process in this heat removal system is calculated. According to the simulation results, the flash shows the most important impact of the heat transfer

Transient Analysis of Passive Decay Heat Removal System for CEFR
Volume 2: Plant Systems, Construction, Structures and Components; Next Generation Reactors and Advanced Reactors, 2013A passive decay heat removal system (DHRS) has been installed on Chinese Experimental Fast Reactor (CEFR). To well predict the thermal-hydraulics behavior of DHRS in transient, an integrated model has been developed for CEFR by using OASIS code. The model included the main thermal transfer system and DHRS circuit.

Design and analysis of a new passive residual heat removal system
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2016Abstract The inherent safety functions will mitigate the consequences of the accidents, and it can be accomplished through the passive safety systems which employed in the typical pressurized water reactor (PWR). In this paper, a new passive residual heat removal system (PRHRS) is designed for a typical nuclear power plant.

Analysis of Passive Heat Removal System by ANSYS CFX software
2018 19th International Scientific Conference on Electric Power Engineering (EPE), 2018In the current study, the model of Passive Heat Removal System (PHRS) through SG (steam-generator) was developed for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis. During work there was done three main tasks, which are creating geometrical form of PHRS, meshing of model to achieve a better analysis of thermo-hydraulic phenomena and creating domains for ...

Heat Transfer Analysis of the Passive Residual Heat Removal System in ROSA/AP600 Experiments
Nuclear Technology, 1998The passive residual heat removal (PRHR) system in the Westinghouse AP600 advanced passive reactor design is a natural-circulation-driven heat exchanger cooled by the water in the in-containment refueling water storage tank (IRWST). During the experiments, which simulated small-break loss-of-coolant accidents in the AP600 reactor using the ROSA-V Large-
