Feasibility of Crosshole Seismic Tomography for Monitoring In Situ CO2 Mineral Storage in Basalts: A Rock Physics‐ and Seismic Modeling Study

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract In situ CO2 mineral storage is gaining increasing attention as a carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology to reduce anthropogenic CO2 emissions. So far, in situ CO2 mineral storage projects have been monitored predominantly using fluid‐ and isotope geochemical methods.

Rock Physics of the Critical Zone: Models, Inversion, and Interpretation

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 64, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Rock physics models link geophysical measurements with subsurface petrophysical properties, such as porosity, mineral composition, and fluid saturation. While originally developed for hydrocarbon exploration, these models are increasingly applied in the near surface for quantitative interpretation of geophysical data.

Passive seismic reflection interferometry: A case study from the aquistore CO2 storage site, Saskatchewan, Canada

open access: yes, 2017
Seismic reflection interferometry has recently been tested in a few resource-exploration applications. We have evaluated passive seismic interferometry results for data from the Aquistore CO2 storage site, Saskatchewan, Canada, with the objective of ...

Fibre imaging bundles for full-field optical coherence tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
An imaging fibre bundle is incorporated into a full-field imaging OCT system, with the aim of eliminating the mechanical scanning currently required at the probe tip in endoscopic systems.

Frequency Standard Contributions to Limitations on the Signal‐to‐Noise Ratio in Very Long Baseline Interferometric Observations

open access: yesRadio Science, Volume 61, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Since its observation in 2019, the first image of a super‐massive black hole using Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) with an Earth‐scale baseline has generated much scientific and public interest. Work is now underway to extend the baseline into space to obtain higher image resolution.

Application of Neural Networks for Moon Near‐Surface Velocity‐Model Extraction

open access: yesGeophysical Prospecting, Volume 74, Issue 5, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Characterizing the shallow lunar subsurface is essential for future exploration activities, including landing‐site assessment, infrastructure construction and subsurface resource investigation. However, conventional seismic approaches for near‐surface characterization commonly depend on prior velocity information and assumptions regarding the ...

Synthetic aperture radar remote sensing for landfill monitoring [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Despite today’s intensive efforts directed at the recycling and recovery of solid wastes, the controlled disposal of refuse into land remains an important and necessary means of effective waste management.

Body-wave seismic interferometry on passive seismic data for imaging CO2 reinjection at the Hellisheiði geothermal power plant, Iceland

open access: yes, 2022
CO2 and H2S are reinjected at Hellisheiði, Iceland, to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases. An active-source seismic campaign was done in July, 2021, to image the reinjection reservoir with various seismic methods for consecutive monitoring.
