Passive Intermodulation (PIM) Test and Measurement
2020 IEEE 29th North Atlantic Test Workshop (NATW), 2020PIM is a form of intermodulation distortion that occurs in passive components. It is an unwanted signal created by the mixing of two or more RF signals, caused by the nonlinearity of the passive components in the RF path. PIM has become a big concern in the wireless and communication industry, with the introduction of 5G standards.

A High Power Low Passive Intermodulation (PIM) UHF Duplexer for Space Application
MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2005This paper describes the development of a high power, low passive intermodulation (PIM) UHF duplexer to determine the feasibility of such a unit for space application. Tests carried out on the final prototype model demonstrate low loss, high power handling in vacuum (>200 watts) and low PIM - thus establishing it as a candidate design for the multi ...

2006 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2006
A methodology is proposed for the phenomenological modeling of passive intermodulation (PIM) generation due to electron tunneling in metallic contacts in the signal transmission path of an RF/microwave system. The proposed model aims at enhancing the understanding of this type of PIM source through the investigation of the impact of surface roughness ...

IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, 2019
In this letter, a segmented polynomial model is developed to accurately calculate the powers of high-order passive intermodulation (PIM) products from the measurement data of low-order PIM product. This proposed model fully considers the dependence of dominant PIM generation mechanism on carrier power.
