A serpentine laminating micromixer combining splitting/recombination and advection [PDF]

open access: yes
Mixing enhancement has drawn great attention from designers of micromixers, since the flow in a microchannel is usually characterized by a low Reynolds number ( Re) which makes the mixing quite a difficult task to accomplish.

Geometric effects on mixing performance in a novel passive micromixer with trapezoidal-zigzag channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A novel passive micromixer, called a trapezoidal-zigzag micromixer (TZM), is reported. A TZM is composed of trapezoidal channels in a zigzag and split–recombine arrangement that enables multiple mixing mechanisms, including splitting–recombining ...

Nanotechnology‐Enhanced Approaches for Early Cancer Diagnosis

open access: yesNano Select, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2026.
Conventional MRI and PET provide limited sensitivity and contrast for precise brain lesion detection. In contrast, radiolabeled nanoparticlebased PET imaging enables enhanced signal specificity and sensitivity. By integrating multifunctional nanoprobes, this platform improves multimodal imaging performance, allowing more accurate visualization of ...

COMSOL Simulation of Bio-MEMS Rotating Microfluidic Mixer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Microfluidic flows in MEMS devices are generally laminar flows, hence the mixing is difficult. To improve the mixing of microfluidic flows, a passive or active micromixer device is needed.

Microflow Switching using Artificial Cilia for On‐Demand Particle Manipulation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 11, November 2025.
A magnetically actuated artificial cilia platform is developed for reversible microflow switching and particle manipulation. By modulating the beating frequencies via external magnetic fields, the system enables shear‐driven particle trapping, directional release, and in situ microfluidic mixing.
