Biomedical Applications of Microfluidic Devices: A Review

open access: yesBiosensors, 2022
Both passive and active microfluidic chips are used in many biomedical and chemical applications to support fluid mixing, particle manipulations, and signal detection. Passive microfluidic devices are geometry-dependent, and their uses are rather limited.

The planar X-junction flow: Stability analysis and control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The bifurcations and control of the flow in a planar X-junction are studied via linear stability analysis and direct numerical simulations. This study reveals the instability mechanisms in a symmetric channel junction and shows how these can be ...

Microflow Switching using Artificial Cilia for On‐Demand Particle Manipulation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 11, November 2025.
A magnetically actuated artificial cilia platform is developed for reversible microflow switching and particle manipulation. By modulating the beating frequencies via external magnetic fields, the system enables shear‐driven particle trapping, directional release, and in situ microfluidic mixing.
