A novel microwave imaging technique that is completely passive and has the ability to image objects and scenes that are obscured by smoke, fog, clouds, building materials, and opaque barriers has been developed. The system employs a electrooptic approach to reduce system complexity and cost by orders of magnitude over competing real-time high ...

Numerical modelling of passive microwave devices
Computer-Aided Design, 1974Passive linear bilateral microwave devices principally include guided wave transmission structures, their junctions, and interconnections, as well as such complex devices as resonant cavities and planar networks. The computational methods for analyzing the behavior of this class of structures and for characterizing them for purposes of network design ...

On passive intermodulation at microwave frequencies
Asia-Pacific Conference on Environmental Electromagnetics, 2003. CEEM 2003. Proceedings., 2003The appearance of PIM products bring a lot of harm into modern satellite communication systems. In this paper, the fundamental concept, mechanism and prediction of PIM are studied. And one mathematical model is given, which is able to predict high order PIM level by using low order PIM level.

The calibration of passive microwave sensors
Advances in Space Research, 1997Abstract In order to measure the absolute brightness temperature of a scene a passive microwave radiometer must be accurately calibrated if the drifts in the instrument receiver gain are not to be misinterpreted as changes in scene brightness temperature.

All matter at temperatures different from absolute zero is radiating electromagnetic energy. Most natural solid and fluid media met in the terrestrial environment obey approximately to the spectral behavior of thermal radiation within limited bandwidths as it is described by the Planck radiation law for the so-called black body. At a temperature of 300

The statistical treatment of passive microwave data
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 1993A statistical treatment of microwave remote sensing data of the Earth's surface is described. The statistical characteristics of radiothermal emission from such surfaces as pure water, oil spills on water, soils, and forests are analyzed, and the relationships between the statistics of the radiothermal emission and surface parameters are discussed.

Passive microwave detection of bubble wakes
IEEE International IEEE International IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2004. IGARSS '04. Proceedings. 2004, 2004Microwave detection of ocean (sub)surface bubble populations including patches, patterns, flows, and wakes is considered. The physical principles are based on specific electromagnetic properties of the air-bubble-water media that produce strong anomalies in ocean thermal microwave emission, especially at X- C-, S- and L- bands (e.g., at wavelengths of ...

Printable planar dielectric passive microwave components
2015 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation & USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting, 2015Printable planar dielectric passive microwave components are investigated in this paper. Micron-size-thick films are printed on low-loss microwave substrates and considered as nearly perfect magnetic walls to realize microwave components. The permittivity contrast between the substrate and film is kept high in order to minimize the leakage power and ...
