Meteorological passive-active radar observations
Journal of Communications Technology and Electronics, 2011The results of passive-active radar investigations of atmospheric objects, including determination of the microphysical characteristics of clouds and precipitation (cloud water content and precipitation intensity) and the characteristics of lightning activity in thunderstorm-hazardous cloudiness, are presented.

Passive bistatic radar enhancement devices
Proceedings of the IEE Part C: Monographs, 1962The usual enhancement devices are constructed to give a maximum monostatic echo area. This is achieved by setting up a uniform phase distribution in the effective aperture of the device independent of the angle of incidence. Bistatic echo-area enhancement may be achieved by altering this phase distribution.

A Multiband Passive Radar Demonstrator
2006 International Radar Symposium, 2006Passive radar systems that exploit signals from the plethora of RF emissions that exist in the external environment offer a number of advantages over conventional active radar system, including procurement and operational cost saving. Each emitter has its own characteristics, including waveforms, which dictate system performance.

Short-range passive radar potentialities
2017The potentialities of passive radar (PR) will be illustrated in this chapter with reference to the surveillance of areas of limited extent. Despite the exploitation of the PR principle in short-range applications could appear as a simple task, it is shown that it brings a number of challenging issues that must be solved to benefit from its potential ...

In distributed sensing applications, the nodes of a sensor network cooperatively detect and localize targets of interest. In particular, active multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) radar (AMR) uses multiple transceivers to transmit separable signals and receive the scattered returns, while passive MIMO radar (PMR) uses multiple receivers to receive the

Passive radar via LTE signals of opportunity
2014 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC), 2014Passive radars relying on signals of opportunity enable new applications based on stealth tracking of targets without the need of radar signals emissions. Long term evolution (LTE) base stations employing orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals are excellent candidates as illuminators of opportunity thanks to their wide availability ...
