Is the future of seismic passive?

First Break, 2010
Ernst D. (Paul) Rode, Hatem Nasr and Monzer Makhous introduce their work on the possibilities of passive seismic, particularly infrasonic passive differential spectroscopy, as a supporting technology for reflection seismic and other methods. A separate article follows with a case study of the techniques used in India.

ACTIVE/PASSIVE SEISMIC CONTROL OF STRUCTURES

Journal of Earthquake Engineering, 2006
In civil engineering, structural integrity and safety are of utmost importance as the consequences of failure are devastating. Maintaining the structural integrity becomes particularly important when the structures are subjected to severe earthquakes and strong wind-loading.

Seismic Passive Earth Pressures in Soils

Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 2005
Seismic passive earth pressure coefficients were computed by the method of limit equilibrium using a pseudostatic approach for seismic forces. Composite curved rupture surfaces were considered in the analysis. While earlier studies using this type of analysis were mainly for sands, seismic passive earth pressure coefficients were obtained in the ...

Wavefront Tomography for Passive Seismic Data

Second EAGE/PESGB Workshop on Velocities, 2019
Summary We propose a workflow for velocity model building based on passive seismic data. The under-lying tomographic inversion makes use of the slopes and curvatures of the recorded wavefield and inverts for velocities, source locations and source excitation times simultaneously.

The Tempa Rossa Passive Seismic Experiment

68th EAGE Conference and Exhibition incorporating SPE EUROPEC 2006, 2006
Passive Seismic Tomography involving the continuous recording of natural microseismicity is increasingly being considered as a new exploration technique particularly in regions of complex geology such as fold and thrust belts. This technique also has the added advantage of being environmentally friendly. In this paper we present a feasibility modelling
