Topological conditions for passive switches in switching converters

2007 18th European Conference on Circuit Theory and Design, 2007
This paper presents an explicit expression for the product (DC power) of an averaged current and an averaged voltage of a switch in switching DC-DC converters and also derive conditions for it to be replaced by a diode (a passive switch).

Synchronization of a class of networked passive systems with switching topology

2007 46th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2007
This paper considers the output synchronization of a class of networked agents. Each agent is a passive system. Local information, used by each agent to adjust its movement, forms a network with switching adjacent topology. First, we consider the asymptotic stability of nonlinear time-varying switched systems by using multiple Lyapunov function.

An investigation on the selection of filter topologies for passive filter applications

IEEE PES General Meeting, 2009
Passive filters have been a very effective solution for power system harmonic mitigation. These filters have several topologies that give different frequency response characteristics. The current industry practice is to combine filters of different topologies to achieve a certain harmonic filtering goal.

Protection of passive optical network by using ring topology

2012 35th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP), 2012
This article proposes an innovative method of passive optical networks' protection by using ring topology. Passive optical networks (PONs) are typically used in modern high-speed access networks, but there are also several specific applications, such as in business, office, army or science sector, which require a complex protection and backup system ...

Topology Design and Capex Estimation for Passive Optical Networks

Proceedings of the 6th International ICST Conference on Broadband Communications, Networks, and Systems, 2009
Several optical access network technologies are available for network operators providing broadband services (FTTx: Fiber-to-the-X solutions). These technologies are now in deployment phase, therefore network and topology design issues play an increasingly important role.

Generalized passivity of coupled neural networks with directed and undirected topologies

Neurocomputing, 2018
Abstract The generalized passivity is discussed for coupled neural networks (CNNs) with directed and undirected topologies, respectively. Firstly, some generalized passivity definitions are proposed for general systems, in which output and input vectors may have different dimensions.

A novel design for passive misscromixers based on topology optimization method

Biomedical Microdevices, 2016
In this paper, a series of novel passive micromixers, called topological micromixers with reversed flow (TMRFX), are proposed. The reversed flow in the microchannels can enhance chaotic advection and produce better mixing performance. Therefore the maximum of reversed flow is chosen as the objective function of the topology optimization problem ...

Passive optical interconnection network employing a shuffle–exchange topology

Applied Optics, 1994
The design of the optical interconnection network (OIN) system is presented. The network is implemented by the use of only passive optical elements and is based on a shuffle-exchange interconnection pattern. Each passive optical shuffle-exchange stage is designed for cascadability. The OIN switch nodes are capable of broadcast and combine operations in

A novel passive tree topology used in avionics network

2016 2nd IEEE International Conference on Computer and Communications (ICCC), 2016
By replace the fibre channel switch in the switched-fabric topological FC-AE-1553 network with a passive optical splitter, data can be conducted and distributed simultaneously into many destinations. This point-to-multipoint data transmission system need to be constructed for avionics protocol standards, so the FC-AE-1553 protocol stack is expanded ...

Experimental Verification of Passive Optical Network With Ring Topology

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2013
ABSTRACTToday, tree or hybrid tree‐star topologies are mostly used for passive optical networks in practice. However, these topologies are significantly vulnerable against the failures of a central optical line termination (OLT) unit. Recently, an innovative idea about forming a simple ring topology by using asymmetric passive splitters together with ...
