Analysis of the contact problem functionally graded layer placed on a Pasternak foundation

open access: yesZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, Volume 105, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract This paper uses analytical and numerical methods to investigate the frictionless receding contact problem of two layers, one functionally graded (FG), loaded by a circular rigid block and resting on a Pasternak foundation. The upper layer loaded by the circular punch has homogeneous properties and contains a single shear modulus, while the ...

Updated consumer risk assessment of fluoride in food and drinking water including the contribution from other sources of oral exposure

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract This updated risk assessment evaluated evidence on potential adverse health effects of fluoride related to all sources of oral exposure as mandated by the European Commission. Fluoride benefit assessment was not included. Effects on the central nervous system, thyroid and bone were prioritised.

Complex dynamics of circular cylindrical shells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Complex dynamics of circular cylindrical shells subjected to inertial axial loads are investigated. The shell is vertically mounted on a shaker, i.e. its base is clamped to the shaker fixture, which induces a vertical motion along the shell axis.

Effects of Aging, Estimated Fitness, and Cerebrovascular Status on White Matter Microstructural Health

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 46, Issue 5, 01 April 2025.
White matter (WM) health declines with age and improves with estimated fitness. However, the effects of age and estimated fitness do not completely overlap spatially. Cerebrovascular health mediates the relationships of WM health with both age and estimated fitness. Males show steeper declines in WM health than females.

Quantifying Localized and Delocalized Rock Deformation in Multi‐Stage Relaxation Experiments Using Distributed Optical Fiber Sensing

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 130, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract Multi‐stage uniaxial and triaxial stress relaxation tests were performed on Weschnitz granodiorite, Beishan granite, and Jinping dolomite marble to investigate the deformation evolution before system‐size failure, and to study stress relaxation responses.

Análise Estática de Vigas Isotrópicas Apoiadas em Base Elástica Winkler-Pasternak [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Beams resting on elastic foundations are widely used in engineering projects, so analyzing their displacement fields is very important. The present work presents solutions for the deflection of isotropic beams resting on elastic foundations of the ...

Dynamic Response Analysis and Active Vibration Control of the Smart Sandwich Composite Plate With FGM Core Layers and MIMO FGPM Actuators and Sensors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, Volume 5, Issue 1, Page 3-19, March 2025.
ABSTRACT This article deals with the dynamic response analysis and active vibration control of the smart functionally graded material (FGM) composite core plate with FG piezoelectric material (FGPM) surface actuators and sensors. Considering a power law distribution, the mechanical and electrical material characteristics of the FGM and FGPM layers ...

Stability of Cracked Plates with Nonlinearly Variable Thickness Resting on Elastic Foundations

open access: yesJournal of Materials and Engineering Structures, 2022
In this paper, the stability of rectangular cracked plates with nonlinearly variable thickness resting on the elastic foundations is studied. The thickness of the plate varies exponentially along the x-axis.
