Steady-State Vibrations of a Beam on a Pasternak Foundation for Moving Loads

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1980
The response of an infinite beam supported by a Pasternak-type foundation and subjected to a moving load is investigated. It is assumed that the load is uniformly distributed over the finite length on a beam and moves with constant velocity. The equations of motion based on the two-dimensional elastic theory are applied to a beam.

Thermal posybuckling of rectangular plates on pasternak elastic foundations

Mechanics Research Communications, 1988
Thermal postbuckling of thin plates has not been studied extensively. Axisymmetric thermal postbuckling of circular plates and doubly-symmetric thermal postbuckling of square plates on Winkler foundations have been investigated by \textit{K. K. Raju} and \textit{G. V. Rao} [Comput. Struct.

Free vibrations of an orthotropic thin cylindrical shell on a Pasternak foundation

AIAA Journal, 2001
The basic objective of the present study is to investigate the influences of foundation parameters, orthotropy of materials represented by elastic moduli ratio, axial wave parameter, and circumferential wave number on three eigenfrequencies. Dynamic equilibrium equations and frequency equation are developed, and the eigenfrequencies are calculated.

Ultimate Carrying Capacity of Elastic-Plastic Plates on a Pasternak Foundation

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2014
In the present work, the problem of an infinite elastic perfectly plastic plate under axisymmetrical loading conditions resting on a bilateral Pasternak elastic foundation is considered. The plate is assumed thin, thus making it possible to neglect the shear deformation according to the classical Kirchhoff theory. Yielding is governed by the Johansen's

Use of Pasternak Foundation Model in Concrete Pavement Analysis

Journal of Transportation Engineering, 1996
This paper examines the use of Pasternak foundation model in the analysis of load-induced concrete pavement deflections and bending stresses, as well as thermal stresses caused by warping of slabs. Using theoretical solutions developed by the authors for structural responses of slabs supported on Pasternak foundation, predicted slab deflections and ...

The large deflection of an orthotropic cylindrical shell on a Pasternak foundation

Composite Structures, 1995
Abstract An orthotropic shallow cylindrical shell lying on a Pasternak type elastic foundation is investigated. Load/deflection curves are drawn for simply supported movable and immovable edge conditions. The influences of shell geometry, foundation parameters and edge conditions on these characteristics are discussed.

Vibrations of continuous Timoshenko beams on Winkler-Pasternak foundations

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1978
Abstract The dynamic analysis of continuous Timoshenko beams on Winkler-Pasternak foundations by means of the general dynamic slope-deflection equations is presented. A three-span continuous beam on a Winkler-Pasternak foundation subjected to free and forced vibrations is used to illustrate the application of the proposed method and to show the ...

THE PASTERNAK FOUNDATION An Attractive Alternative for the Winkler Foundation

Proceedings of the International Conference on Concrete Pavements
In this paper the Pasternak Foundation model is described. In this two parameter model the reaction of the foundation is determined by a vertical spring constant k (the modulus of subgrade reaction in the Winkler Foundation) in combination with a parameter k0 which can be seen as a horizontal linkage of the vertical springs (comparable to the function ...

Large deflection analysis of cylindrical shells on a pasternak foundation

International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 1993
Abstract Nonlinear static analysis of a cylindrical shell on a Pasternak foundation is carried out using a new approach due to Sinharay and Banerjee. This approach involves the use of variational principles and Galerkin's techniques. The effect of geometric, material and foundation parameters on load-deflection characteristics in investigated for ...
