Acute Pasteurella multocida pneumonia
British Journal of Diseases of the Chest, 1977Acute pneumonia caused by Pasteurella multocida appeared in two elderly patients. One patient had chronic obstructive lung disease and the other developed aspiration pneumonia after an episode of cardiac arrest. Pasteurella multocida was not isolated from the initial sputum cultures.

Pathogenomics of Pasteurella multocida
2012The first complete genome sequence of the P. multocida avian isolate Pm70 was reported in 2001. Analysis of the genome identified many predicted virulence genes, including two encoding homologues of the Bordetella pertussis filamentous haemagluttinins, and genes involved in iron transport and metabolism.

Nishi Nihon Hifuka, 1999症例1: 56歳の男性。初診の4日前に猫に手を咬まれた。同部に発赤, 腫脹が著しく排膿を認めた。症例2: 41歳の女性。初診の前日右下腿を猫に咬まれた。同部の発赤, 腫脹, 疼痛が著明。2日後排膿あり。2例とも膿の細菌培養にてPasteurella multocidaを分離した。セフェム系抗生物質を2週間投与し治癒。猫咬傷はPasteurella multocida感染のリスクが高いことを認識すべきである。

Pasteurella multocida infectious arthritis
The American Journal of the Medical Sciences, 1978Pasteurella multocida, a small gram-negative rod, is a domestic animal saprophyte that occasionally causes disease in humans. Infectious arthritis may develop from a superficial animal bite or scratch. Nine previous cases of infectious arthritis due to this organism have been documented in the literature, and a tenth case is reported here.

It is usually associated with skin and soft tissue infections, as a result of bites and scratches. Although invasive and serious infections by P. multocida are rare, there are limited reports of pneumonia and sepsis.
