In this study, we developed a method for the rapid detection of Clostridium piliforme. This method has good specificity, high sensitivity, simple operation and potential for basic promotion application. Abstract Background Clostridium piliforme (causative agent of Tyzzer disease) infects various animals, including primates, and hence a threat to animal

Immunopathology of Airway Surface Liquid Dehydration Disease
The primary purpose of pulmonary ventilation is to supply oxygen (O2) for sustained aerobic respiration in multicellular organisms. However, a plethora of abiotic insults and airborne pathogens present in the environment are occasionally introduced into the airspaces during inhalation, which could be detrimental to the structural integrity and ...

Study of Bacterial Zoonoses in Conventional Sprague Dawley, Wistar and NMRI Rat Breeding Colonies
Background: Bacterial zoonoses have the first priority in laboratory rat colonies to be considered, monitored and eradicated. These bacteria count as health risk factors for personnel and researchers and may interfere with experimental results.

Pasteurella pneumotropica and the prevalence of the AHP (Actinobacillus, Haemophilus, Pasteurella)-group in laboratory animals [PDF]
134 bacterial isolates originally identified as Pasteurella pneumotropica were cultured from healthy, ill or dead mice, rats, hamsters, guineapigs, rabbits and cats originating from 7 conventional laboratory animal facilities. They occurred seldom in pure culture and were found in a variety of organs.

[Selective media for Pasteurella pneumotropica].
Bacteria from the subcutaneous abscesses which appeared in a laboratory colony of DS mouse since October of 1977 were identified as Pasteurella pneumotropica by various biological examinations. The abscess formation was limited to multiparous female mice over 100 day-age, but virgin females were free from the disease.
