Grazing and climate interact to regulate greening trends in Mediterranean grasslands
Our results show that traditional grazing systems can maintain grassland stability without causing degradation, but they can also increase the ecosystem's vulnerability to climate change. We provide clear evidence that GPS‐based livestock monitoring is a powerful and scalable tool for sustainable rangeland management.

Rapid riparian ecosystem decline in Rocky Mountain National Park
Abstract Understanding the drivers of ecosystem collapse is critical for resource management, particularly for protected areas mandated to preserve biodiversity. In Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, tall willows (Salix spp.) dominated riparian vegetation, and a beaver–willow state was the natural ecosystem type in the Colorado River headwaters ...

Compost amendments up to one inch restore dry rangeland soil health
Rangelands harbor immense diversity and provide ecosystem services across vast swaths of land while supporting rural economies and the food system, but degraded rangelands may require active management to restore diversity and function. We added varying amounts of compost to understand if there are linear or saturating effects on vegetation and soil ...

Effectiveness of protected areas in the Caucasus Mountains in preventing rangeland degradation
Abstract As land use intensifies globally, it increasingly exerts pressure on protected areas. Despite open, nonforested landscapes comprising up to 40% of protected areas globally, assessments have predominately focused on forests, overlooking the major pressures on rangelands from livestock overgrazing and land conversion.
