Serotyping and Seroprevalence Estimation of Pasteurellosis in Ovine and Caprine in Selected Districts of Afar Region, Ethiopia

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Small ruminant pasteurellosis remains a major constraint to productivity in pastoral production systems despite routine vaccination with inactivated Pasteurella multocida biotype A. Serological analysis revealed a very high overall seroprevalence (97.61%) and the circulation of multiple serotypes, including Mannheimia haemolytica A1, A2, and A7 and P ...

The Estimation of Phenotypic and Genetic Parameters for Growth Rate Traits of Abergelle Goat Under the Community‐Based Breeding Programme in the North‐Eastern Parts of Ethiopia

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Genetic and phenotypic parameters for growth traits of Abergelle goats were estimated using 6 years of data from community‐based breeding programme in scale‐up villages. Growth traits showed positive genetic and phenotypic correlations, with moderate to high heritability, indicating strong potential for genetic improvement through selection.
