MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

Milk production from grazed pasture in mountainous regions of Austria - impact of calving season [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The influence of calving season on milk yield, lactation length, composition of the diet, reproduction and nutrient supply for pasture-based systems in a mountainous region of Austria was examined with thirty-three dairy cows on an organic farm.

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Participation in Physical Activity for Children with Neurodevelopmental Disorders

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pediatrics, 2012
The purpose of this study was to compare rates of participation for children (4–9 years of age) with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) with and without externalizing behavior problems (EBPs) with children without disability and to examine mediators of ...

Domain Wall Rebounds Driven by Competing Entropic and Spin‐Transfer Torques in Cylindrical Nanowires

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Domain‐wall motion in cylindrical magnetic nanowires driven by nanosecond current pulses. Low current densities efficiently displace domain walls, whereas higher currents cause rebound at the wire ends. The effect results from the interplay between spin‐transfer torque and thermally induced processes, highlighting the role of thermal gradients in ...

Relationships between land use and nitrogen and phosphorus in New Zealand lakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Developing policies to address lake eutrophication requires an understanding of the relative contribution of different nutrient sources and of how lake and catchment characteristics interact to mediate the source–receptor pathway.

A New Threshold Switching Device With Tunable Negative Differential Resistance Based on ErMnO3 Polymorphs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polymorph engineering in ErMnO3 enables low‐voltage, forming‐free threshold switching with tunable negative differential resistance. Conducting orthorhombic regions embedded in an insulating hexagonal matrix provide controlled Joule‐heating‐enhanced Poole–Frenkel transport. The hexagonal phase prevents excessive heating and breakdown.

Foraging patterns and volatile fatty acid production levels from the Boran and Nguni cows in drought-stricken arid rangelands

open access: yesJournal of Applied Animal Research
The objective of this study was to determine the effect of breed and parity on plant selection patterns and volatile fatty acid production levels from the Boran and Nguni cows grazing arid rangelands. A total of 24 cows (12 from each breed) were randomly

The effect of land disposal of dairy factory wastes on soil properties : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Agricultural Science in Soil Science, Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
Many New Zealand dairy factories dispose of their wastewater by spray irrigating onto pasture. Little is known, however, about the effects of this disposal on soil properties.
