Dating shorelines of lakes in Patagonia, Argentina
Journal of South American Earth Sciences, 1988Abstract Organic remains from elevated shorelines of two closed basins were radiocarbon dated and document lakes substantially larger than today between 19,500 and 15,000 years BP in northern Patagonia (lat. 41°S), but only for the last 4000 years in southern Patagonia (lat. 49°S).

2022The Patagonian coast evolved in relation to different issues. An arid climate dominates to the north, while very humid conditions prevail to the south of the Pacific coast and at the Fuegian archipelago. Tidal effects increase from north to south at the Atlantic coast, while the Pacific coast is dominantly microtidal.

A Perplexing Outbreak of Mice in Patagonia, Argentina
Studies on Neotropical Fauna and Environment, 2002Early in spring, 1997, remarkably large numbers of mice appeared in the dense forests near the western end of Lago Nahuel Huapi, Argentina. Dead mice that washed up on nearby beaches at this time were fat, had full stomachs and were young or young-adults born unusually late in the preceding autumn and winter.
