S-patch: Modification of the Hermite parametric patch

open access: yesCoRR, 2010
A new modification of the Hermite cubic rectangular patch is proposed: the S-Patch, which is based on the requirement that diagonal curves must be of degree 3 instead of degree 6 as it is in the case of the Hermite patch. Theoretical derivation of conditions is presented and some experimental results as well. The S-Patch is convenient for applications,

Adsorption and Dilational Viscoelasticity of Saponin at the β-Pinene/Water and Air/Water Interfaces

open access: yesColloids and Interfaces
Understanding adsorption and interfacial properties of surface-active agents at interfaces is crucial to the formation and stability of colloidal systems such as emulsions and foams. In this work, interfacial tension and viscoelasticity of saponin at the

Techno-economic analysis of combustion exhaust utilization during lithium carbonate production with integrated CO2 capture

open access: yesChemical Engineering Journal Advances
Battery-grade lithium carbonate (Li2CO3 ≥ 99.5 wt%) is recovered from spodumene-rich pegmatite ore by energy-intensive processes having considerable environmental impacts.

Enhancing safety in ventral patch repair for umbilical hernia by utilizing a hybrid technique

open access: yesInternational Journal of Abdominal Wall and Hernia Surgery, 2022
BACKGROUND: Both suture and mesh repairs are used for smaller (1-3 cm) umbilical hernias. But primary repair has a higher recurrence rate in literature. The use of mesh repairs has become the way to go for small and medium sized ventral hernias.

Complementary Split-Ring Resonator-Loaded Microfluidic Ethanol Chemical Sensor

open access: yesSensors, 2016
In this paper, a complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR)-loaded patch is proposed as a microfluidic ethanol chemical sensor. The primary objective of this chemical sensor is to detect ethanol’s concentration. First, two tightly coupled concentric CSRRs

Posterior cusp enlargement in mitral valve reconstructive surgery for restrictive valve insufficiency: Case report [PDF]

open access: yesSrpski Arhiv za Celokupno Lekarstvo, 2007
Introduction According to Carpentier classification, group III of mitral insufficiency is caused by the restrictive motion of the mitral valve. A rheumatic process and a coronary disease are the main causes.

Assessing the effect of deposited bitumen or asphaltenes on the nitrification process in the north saskatchewan river sediment

open access: yesEnvironmental Advances
Following oil spills, heavier compounds of oils formed oil-sediment mixtures and deposited on the riverbed, yet their impacts on freshwater sediment ecosystems are not well understood. This study aimed to (1) examine the effects of deposited bitumen (Bit)

Serological Benefit of SARS‐CoV‐2 Vaccination Relative to Infection in Children With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are at risk of severe outcomes from SARS‐CoV‐2 (SCV2). In the post‐pandemic context, where most children have been infected with SCV2, there are limited data on whether vaccination remains beneficial in children with ALL.

Claudin‐6 Protein Expression in Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid Tumors Is Strongly Enriched in the Molecular Subgroup AT/RT‐TYR

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Claudin‐6 has emerged as a promising immunotherapeutic target, yet protein‐level data in atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumors (AT/RTs) have been inconsistent. We analyzed 36 well‐characterized AT/RT samples and found membranous claudin‐6 protein expression in 58% of cases, with striking enrichment in the molecular subgroup AT/RT‐TYR (100%) and ...
