Shorted annular patch antenna

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 1995
AbstractA new type of annular patch antenna is presented. At variance of classical annular patch antenna the inner edge is shorted by a cylindrical conducting wall. Therefore this antenna radiates as a circular patch but has a smaller stored energy, which allows a larger bandwidth, and the feed point can be chosen to have an easy matching.

Multihole-coupled patch antennas

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium. 1996 Digest, 2002
An accurate and numerically efficient model for the electromagnetic coupling between a microstrip line and a microstrip patch via small holes is presented. In the framework of the cavity model both the antenna excitation and the reflection coefficient on the line are computed taking into account all the modes in the cavity.

A Zhong-Shaped Patch Antenna

2018 IEEE International Conference on Signal Processing, Communications and Computing (ICSPCC), 2018
This paper introduces a Chinese character-shaped circularly polarized (CP) patch antenna: Zhong-shaped patch printed in SimHei font. In order to enhance the broadside gain and front-to-back radiation, a rectangular metal box is included as the antenna reflector.

The cylindrical omnidirectional patch antenna

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2001
In recent years, the need for omnidirectional antennas for wireless applications increased considerably. The antennas are used in a variety of bands anywhere from 1.7 to 2.5 GHz, in different configurations which mainly differ in gain. The omnidirectionality is mostly obtained using back-to-back elements or simply using dipoles in different collinear ...

A narrowband patch antenna with a dielectric patch

2008 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2008
In this contribution, we have discussed a narrowband patch antenna, which uses a thick dielectric patch instead of the metal patch, but still operates in the microstrip mode. The corresponding impedance bandwidth of the antenna may be higher than for the metal patch of the same size. A literature search did not indicate prior references related to this

Polygonal Patch Antennas for Wireless Communications

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2004
An effective design of polygonal patch antennas with multifrequency or broad-band operation modes for wireless communications is presented in this paper. It is shown how polygonal patches with suitable features may be obtained after a proper perturbation of conventional rectangular geometries, which inherently present poor bandwidth performances. These

Investigation of meander slots to microstrip patch patch antenna

2013 IEEE International Conference on RFID-Technologies and Applications (RFID-TA), 2013
Microstrip slotted meander line antenna with a diverse number of meander slots is presented for 2.4 GHz of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) application. The proposed antenna comprises a rectangular microstrip patch element embedded with several numbers of meander slots in many positions.

Terahertz patch antenna

Tenth International Symposium on Ultrafast Phenomena and Terahertz Waves (ISUPTW 2021), 2021
We propose a novel patch antenna operating at 300 GHz. The antenna has a footprint of 500 μm × 500 &mum and a height of 198 &mum. The matching and radiation properties are studied. The simulation results show that the return loss (S11) is below -10 dB in the frequency range of 290.75 to 308.20 GHz and the relative bandwidth is 5.8%.

SRR and patch antenna

2008 International Conference on Recent Advances in Microwave Theory and Applications, 2008
This paper presents various observations, from electromagnetic simulations and experimental results of a split ring resonator embedded patch antenna. Simulations have been done by inserting more number of SRRs in the patch antenna. There is an increase in gain, antenna efficiency, shift in resonant frequency and dual frequency of operation for the ...

Micromachined patch antennas

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1998
This paper presents the use of selective lateral etching based on micromachining techniques to enhance the performance of rectangular microstrip patch antennas printed on high-index wafers such as silicon, GaAs, and InP. Micromachined patch antennas on Si substrates have shown superior performance over conventional designs where the bandwidth and the ...
